About the role

At Talent-Ed we pride ourselves on the quality of tuition we deliver to our pupils. Ensuring we maintain this quality is the responsibility of the Quality, Teaching and Learning Lead (QTLL). This starts with being highly selective about who we approve to tutor with us – only qualified, experienced teachers and tutors with great communication skills and passion for their subject. Once approved, our tutors must complete our onboarding modules to ensure expectations are clear and well understood. When tutors are then placed on programmes, our quality assurance measures, which include observations, learning walks, and coaching, ensure that our tutors live up to the high standards we set. These quality assurance activities are mostly carried out by our fantastic Lead Tutors, who are themselves highly experienced and effective tutors.

The QTLL will oversee all these elements. In practice, roughly half of the role is dedicated to coordinating, supporting, and moderating our Lead Tutors, conducting learning walks, and sharing best practice insights with the tutor community via emails and newsletters. The other half of the role will be spent on tutor recruitment, conducting interviews with prospective tutors and assessing them against our quality framework.

You will work closely with the programme leads and their teams for both of our programmes.

Key responsibilities

The successful candidate will join a dynamic, fast-paced team, and so aspects of the job description may change as the programme evolves. The following list of duties is not exhaustive, and colleagues will need to support one another from time to time.

  • Lead on quality assurance for our two programmes
  • Coordinating and supporting our team of Lead Tutors to conduct session observations and follow-up coaching
  • Conducting escalation observations (for below expectations tutors) as necessary
  • Ensure only the very best tutors work with us, by conducting rigorous interviews with tutor applicants
  • Monitor tutor onboarding, and where necessary support with completion of our tutor onboarding e-modules
  • Support with tutor recruitment, vetting, and onboarding, with a relentless focus on identifying the very best tutors to work with us
  • Conduct learning walks and share best practice with the tutor community and staff
  • (Depending on experience) Act as a deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, ensuring staff and tutors are well informed and our policies and procedures are up to date
  • Adhere to and support all our safeguarding measures
