We're forging partnerships beyond borders!
We sat down with Felipe Teixeira Gabriel , Brazil's top safety stakeholder and co-founder of Prime Defense to learn more about the unique challenges facing Brazil's public safety efforts.
While traveling thousands of miles to attend the 2024 Active Threat Integrated Response conference in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, Felipe was kind enough to stop by Drift Net HQ here in Chicago to provide the team with a little perspective.
In the last two years, we have had more than half of the cases in the last 25 years. So, unfortunately, we think that these cases of active shooters will continue to happen in the next months and years.

Felipe became involved with Drift Net through our Director of Research, Peter Langman, Ph.D. , whose extensive research and book "Warning Signs: Identifying School Shooters Before They Strike " served as a foundation for the new methods Felipe and his team were implementing to enhance the Brazil's preparedness potential. When we sat down with Felipe, we were able to uncover factors in threat management and public safety that had never occurred to us, but are a constant struggle in Brazil.
Did you know there is a constant 100 mile long traffic jam in Brazil's largest city S?o Paulo? Commuters spend an entire month out of the year in traffic. An entire month. How does this translate to emergency management? How do first responders reconcile this massive disruption when responding to a critical incident?
This interview highlights challenges in building a safety culture in Brazil's diverse communities, emphasizing the perseverance needed by pioneers in safety such as Felipe.
