We’re at Christmasworld 2019 with the biggest stand ever booked in our industry, and yes, it’s extraordinary. Join us for our last day in Frankfurt.

Frankfurt’s Christmasworld, the world’s biggest trend and order platform for the international seasonal and festive decoration sector, opened its doors on Friday and I can tell you that MK Illumination’s +-500m2 stand has blown people away. We chose the theme “Extraordinary” this year and I’m delighted to tell you that now that I’ve seen the end result personally and the reactions of visitors over the last few days, the theme is more than appropriate.

Our "Enchanted Forest" features 11 one-of-a-kind concepts that combine innovative thinking, lighting, and design from our talented worldwide team. To enter the forest, visitors pass through "The Arch of Life" teaming with woodland creatures, and in the forest itself, the designs include creative interpretations of wildlife and fantastic beasts in all shapes and sizes, from the delightful "Fairytale Funghi" that change from warm white to brilliant white when sat upon to the intricately engraved "Winter Unicorn", captured for a moment in time leaping into the air, its tail of light whipping around it.

The magical creatures in The Enchanted Forest combine MK Illumination’s quality products and experiential design, as well as a mix of materials including fiberglass from our MK Themed Attractions division. These designs and concepts aren't simply “pretty”. They’re practical examples of how we can help clients who manage shopping centers and retail spaces combine light and design and use them as part of their year-round campaigns to attract and engage visitors.

The demand for experiences isn’t going away, but the type of experiences that people want are changing. That’s why our Christmasworld designs are feasts for the eyes. They tap into multiple senses, attracting with light, engaging with design, inviting interaction on a number of levels, and they can literally transform any space.

Obviously, it’s one thing to talk generally about the different designs and their impact, but it’s a very different challenge to envisage how creative lighting concepts like these – many of which are more like light art than anything else – can be used effectively in a specific space (like your shopping center or retail space).

That’s where our sales, design, and technical teams shine: for the last few days, they’ve been talking to visitors, discussing ideas, and sketching solutions that will help center managers take their campaigns to the next level. To me, that’s exciting, and it’s one of the reasons we’re here at Christmasworld this year, and one of the reason so many visitors come to Frankfurt for a one-to-one meeting with us.
