We’re all dying... Now is the time to live.

Exactly one week ago I shared “Hug your dog hard today…”
Little did I know that our sweet, 14-year-old Rocky Boy would be taken to the emergency room three days later.
Rocky couldn’t get his breathing under control and spent the next two full days and nights in an oxygen chamber.?
I can’t imagine how those days felt to him. I only know how they felt to Alisa and me.
But I did the one thing I could do…I stayed as positive as I could and sent him so much love (admittedly, in between tears).
When the doctors weened him off the O2, we knew this was the moment and we were praying for the best…
Then Rocky channeled his namesake (and inner fighter: Rocky Balboa), and began to do well on regular oxygen!
He breathed deep, and so did we.
After another night at lower altitude, and armed with some new meds and an oxygen machine, Rocky Boy is now home in the mountains and doing great!
And yet…
Despite this harrowing experience, this vivid reminder of what’s important when time stands still, I still find it too easy to slip.
It’s too easy to forget to be present…to be undistracted…to be loving.
Why is this??
When I look at sweet Rocky Boy, it doesn’t matter.
All that matters is that I am, in that moment, back where I belong.

Mike’s quote of the week:
“We’re all dying, we just don’t know when. Now is the time to live.” - MM
What I’m pondering:
Why are we programmed to live in stress and not bliss?
Things I’ve shared recently:
Hug your dog tight today (and everyone you love)
Life is all perspective (be the airplane at 30,000 feet)
