We’re All in, delivering our sustainability commitments
At EY, we recognise that sustainability is not just a regulatory requirement – it’s an integral part of our Global strategy, All in – with the bold ambition to Shape the future with confidence and drive purposeful growth, together.
In addition to celebrating advancements in human wellbeing – such as reduced poverty rates and increased life expectancy – we must also confront the pressing issues of climate change, wealth inequality, and the limits of our planet's resources. Our Chief Sustainability Officer Mat Nelson has unpacked this complexity, in his recent LinkedIn article .
We’re firmly focussed on unlocking opportunities for a new economy, that are anchored in science, and harnesses data and technology to deliver impact.
In a landscape where sustainability is increasingly vital, we’re committed to being courageous, bold and creative when driving action for a new economy – where people, businesses, and the planet thrive as one. Through our Sustainability Strategy we’re directly bringing to life EY’s purpose of Building a better working world.
Shaping the future with confidence, together
Within our Sustainability Strategy, enhancing trust is core to our commitments. We’ll demonstrate this by openly reporting our progress and challenges, underpinned by ethical behaviour in all we do.
In continuing to be transparent with stakeholders, we’ll galvanise trust to supercharge the impact we’ll make together – to tackle complex challenges and foster a culture of inclusive action toward progress.
Driving purposeful growth
Our commitment to ‘Be regenerative’ involves supporting the transition to net zero and finding ways to remove greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere. This aligns with All in’s focus on intentional investments that unlock opportunities for our people, clients and communities. By embedding sustainability into our services, we help clients navigate their own sustainability journey – driving purposeful growth for both their businesses and society.
Sparking innovation is key to delivering upon our ambition
Our commitment to ‘Spark innovation’ is about thinking creatively when investing in solutions that address sustainability challenges. By fostering a culture of innovation, we empower our teams and clients to explore new opportunities, that drive both social and environmental impact.
Creating impact across key channels
To turn our commitments into actionable results, we focus on creating impact across four key channels – clients, people, operations, and communities.
For clients, we’ll embed sustainability into all our services and support them on their own sustainability journeys. We’ll help them identify opportunities for sustainable practices that drive long–term value.
For our people, we’ll continue to foster awareness of the evolving challenges before us and support them to embrace sustainability in their professional and personal lives. This commitment to education and engagement is crucial for fostering our own culture of sustainability within EY.
We’re dedicated to reducing the footprint of our own operations – through championing human rights and restoring natural capital.
We also actively seek meaningful ways to regenerate the social foundation of the communities in which we operate. By promoting inclusion and collaboration, we align our efforts with the All in’s focus on Shaping the future with confidence, together.
Looking Ahead
As we continue our sustainability journey, we recognise that our path will involve challenges and learning opportunities. However, our reliance on data-driven decision-making and evidence–based practices will guide us in refining our approach.
I’m particularly enthusiastic about the plans within our upcoming Nature and Social Value strategies, which will further bolster our sustainability commitments. These initiatives will provide a comprehensive framework for addressing the full spectrum of sustainability issues.
Our sustainability commitments are not standalone initiatives –they’re core to our All in strategy. By aligning our sustainability efforts with our core purpose of Building a better working world, we position ourselves as leaders in the industry while making a meaningful impact on society and the environment.
I invite our clients, partners, and colleagues to join us on this journey. Together, we’ll create a future that is sustainable, equitable, and prosperous for all. Let’s embrace the challenges ahead and work towards practical solutions that benefit both business and society, ensuring our collective efforts lead to lasting change.

Key to the success of any sustainability strategy is leadership commitment, this is a great demonstration of your support David Larocca! Particularly pleased with your comment of 'focus(ing) on intentional investments that unlock opportunities for our people, clients and communities'. Finding investments that target all three will be a challenge, but one I am keen to embrace.
