Wemade The New Steam Of Blockchain Games?

Most of us are well aware of the digital marketplace giant Steam, well-known among gamers. Right?

However, a South Korean-based blockchain storefront is showing signs and potential to become the Steam of blockchain games.

Henry Chang is the CEO of Wemade, a company known for a blockbuster hit game Mir4. Now, Chang wants to make the transition from a game developer to a mega game marketplace like a Steam of blockchain games. Whooza!

This is an ambitious idea but Wemade has concrete plans and stuff going on to achieve it.

The key lies in its super-hit game Mir4 and its intellectual property. Mir has more than 500 million users at this moment and its latest entry Mir4 has monthly active users of 4 million people.

However, establishing a blockchain game Steam market is a challenge in itself. Many hardcore and traditional gamers haven’t quite embraced blockchain gaming yet. The reasons are obvious; scam and poor low-grade gameplay, graphics, and story narrative.

But the Mir series feels familiar to the gaming community due to its anime approach.

The economic indicators for Wemade also show a lot of promise. It reported $6.5 million in operating profit on $131 million in revenues in Q1. Moreover, Wemade’s blockchain gaming platform Wemix welcomes nine new games on its platform.

The forecast for Wemix is to hit 100 games by the end of this year. Moreover, a Wemix stable token known as WEMIX$ is also in the plans.

Chang is hopeful to bring West’s gamers and developers closer via decentralization. He is also hopeful to win the trust of Western developers and gamers by providing them with high-quality services as he continues his march towards the metaverse.

In an interview with GamesBeat, Chang said, “I believe that when we have success in hardcore games, there will come a time when people will ask for and request coins and NFTs to be issued.

For example, if you look at a game like Grand Theft Auto, currently the developers sell this as a package. But imagine if there were coins and NFTs that could be applied in the game that has real economic value.”

All in all, interesting to follow Henry Chang and his journey into blockchain gaming.
