Positive Mental Health and wellbeing in the workplace courses

  • Wellbeing First Aid Officer – 1 Day Course
  • Mental Health Awareness for Line Managers – 1 Day course

Course 1 - Wellbeing First Aid Officer

This workshop provides you with the skills, knowledge and toolkit to become a ‘mental health first aider’ and so to promote wellbeing and positive mental health within your organisation. You won’t be a therapist or a counselor, but you will be in a strong position to signpost your colleagues to support and help on a first aid basis.

Together with your facilitators, Mandy Kinnell, Gareth Nicholson and a qualified accredited Psychotherapist from the Lisa Lowe Centre, you will define well-being and mental health, and learn techniques to give you confidence in supporting your colleagues, and you will leave with a detailed action plan for how you will take the role forward and embed it. All this in a highly practical and engaging workshop where you will benefit from the presence of a fully qualified therapist to bring to life what you are learning and have ample opportunity to practise newly acquired techniques and approaches. You will return to work full of ideas and feeling confident in your new role.

Course 2 - Mental Health Awareness for Line Managers

This course provides you with a powerful and effective approach to keeping your colleagues healthy.

Together with your facilitators, Mandy Kinnell, Gareth Nicholson and a qualified accredited psychotherapist from The Lisa Lowe Centre, you will define well-being and mental health, explore the different methods available to build trust and drive the performance of the individuals in your team, taking into account their individual needs. You will learn how effective listening can dramatically improve performance – and you will leave with a detailed action plan for how you will tackle scenarios you have identified.

All this in a highly practical and engaging workshop where you will benefit from the presence of a fully qualified therapist to bring to life what you are learning and have ample opportunity to practise newly acquired techniques and approaches. You will return to work energised and bursting with new ideas.

Specially designed Mental Health and wellbeing in the workplace workshops

  • Managing general depression, anxiety and stress in the workplace – 2.5 hour workshop
  • Impact of traumatic events in the workplace – 2.5 hour workshop
  • Harmful addictive behaviour and the workplace – 2.5 hour workshop

Workshop 1 - Managing general depression, anxiety and stress in the workplace

All businesses are responsible for their employees healthcare, this includes mental health. Managing stress and anxiety in the workplace will give you an understanding of detection and early intervention. Early Intervention will reduce the amount of time taken off as a direct cause of mental pressure and reduce the resulting added stress on the rest of the team.

Workshop 2 - Impact of traumatic events in the workplace

Traumatic events arise in many different forms, death of a loved one, life changing illness and serious accidents are some of the subjects that will be covered. What do you do when a staff member is faced with a traumatic event? Risk assessments and signposting can be vital at an early stage but so often there is no plan in place to deal with this.

Workshop 3 - Harmful addictive behaviour and the workplace

It can be difficult for an employee to reach out and ask for help, especially at work. Sometimes, this difficulty is a result of a perceived lack of support from employers or a sense of shame the employee might feel about the addiction. Nonetheless, it is important for employers to understand that assisting employees with addiction problems to reach out for help not only benefits the employee in terms of their physical, emotional, and mental health, it also benefits the organisation.
