Note from Yann: ?? Hey readers! I’m Yann A?tBachir , every week, I share my practical guidance to help to grow in your career.
In today's article, the 17th in this series, I am writing after reading the latest update of Gallup latest studies on hybrid work.
Simply put: wellbeing is not only about remote/on-site balance, it is more depend on the way you manage your team.

Forget the endless debate about remote vs. office work.
The real secret to employee engagement?
It's all about how you manage, not about your team work arrangement.
I have recently analysed Gallup's latest Hybrid Work Indicator update (August 2024).
While work location certainly plays a role in employee experience, it's not the deciding factor in engagement.
In fact, Gallup's research shows that great management is far more critical than work setup when it comes to boosting employee engagement and wellbeing.
80% of employees who received meaningful feedback in the past week were fully engaged -- regardless of how many days they worked in the office.
That's right - the engagement boost from meaningful feedback is four times larger than the boost from having the "right" number of days in the office.
Leaders should focus on managing teams effectively, regardless of where they work.
Here are just two strategies boost teams engagement in remote or office work settings.
Set Crystal Clear Expectations ??
Ambiguity is the enemy of productivity.
Your team needs to know exactly what's expected of them, whether they're working from a beach in Bali or the cubicle next door.
?? Pro tip: Employees who strongly agree that they know what's expected of them at work are 47% less likely to experience frequent burnout and 23% less likely to struggle with work-life balance. Talk about a win-win!

????♂??? Action step: Make yourself easily available (virtually or in person) to answer questions, clarify and collaborate on prioritizing tasks.
Increase Recognition Frequency ??
Recognizing your team’s efforts isn’t just a feel-good gesture—it’s a powerful tool for reinforcing positive behavior and boosting wellbeing.
When employees feel valued, they’re more engaged and less likely to burn out.
Don’t just recognize hard work; celebrate personal milestones and achievements outside of work too. It shows that you see them as whole people, not just workers.
Feedback are not only for constructive, praise are even more powerful.
? Fun fact: Employees who strongly agree that recognition is an important part of their culture are 3.7 times more likely to be engaged and 3.8 times more likely to feel connected to their culture.
The Bottom Line ??
Wellbeing wins, no matter where you work.
Focus on these human-centric practices, and watch your team thrive, whether they're in the office or on the beach. ???
The relationship between remote work and wellbeing is not always direct.
Good management practices can boost engagement across all locations!
Start recognizing your team's efforts today and watch your culture transform!
