New Research: Poor Wellbeing of Australia's Small Business Owners

Last month, Xero released The global state of small business owner wellbeing?report. Of 4,600 responses from small businesses across seven countries, the report?found that Australian small business owners have the second lowest overall wellbeing amid Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, the UK and the US.

It also found that 26 per cent of the nation’s small business owners find managing issues related to employee mental health a source of stress most or all of the time. Twenty-four per cent revealed that they can’t access affordable counselling and support if they need it, which is above the average of the business owners surveyed in other countries.

Our co-founder, Sarah Cotton, Ph.D , was asked to talk about the findings with Dan and Tim from Two Drunk Accountants . Take a listen here.

Why AQ is Key in the Future of Work

This month we’re talking about AQ (Adaptability Quotient) and why it's a key skill for employees to develop, and for organisations to hire for in the future.

“IQ is the minimum you need to get a job, but AQ is how you will be successful over time,” says Natalie Fratto, a vice-president at Goldman Sachs who has a TED Talk on how workers can measure their adaptability.

To find out more about IQ, EQ and AQ, take a look out our article below and watch Natalie's TED Talk - it's six minutes well spent in our books.
