Surekha Yadav, Asia's 1st woman loco pilot

“A well-educated man can provide for his family, but well-educated women can help the economy expand at a faster rate.”

Hi, hope you all are well, someone well said that…..

A well-educated man can provide for his family, but well-educated women can help the economy expand at a faster rate.”

And this has been proved by Smt. Surekha Yadav.

That is remarkable! Surekha Yadav has surely overcome several obstacles in her profession as a loco pilot. Not only was she the first woman to operate the Deccan Queen train, but she also made history as the first female loco pilot of one of India's fastest trains, the Vande Bharat Express.

Let's know about her early life.

Smt.Surekha Bhosale was born in Satara, Maharashtra in 1965. She attended Saint Paul Convent High School and the Government Polytechnic at Karad to get a Diploma in Electrical Engineering. She wanted to go to graduate school to pursue a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in mathematics and B.Ed.) before becoming a teacher, but was stopped from going due to job offers from the Indian Railways.

Let's elaborate on her achievements.

On March 13, 2023, she drove the Vande Bharat Express train from Solapur station to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai (Monday). After going more than 450 km, the train arrived at the CSMT five minutes before the time it was supposed to. At the CSMT, she was praised on platform number 8.

"Powered by Nari Shakti, Vande Bharat. "Smt. Surekha Yadav, the first woman to drive a locomotive on the Vande Bharat Express," said Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav in a tweet.

Ms. Yadav said that she was glad to have the chance to drive the new, high-tech Vande Bharat Train.

In 2019, the Indian Railways named a suburban railway station in Mumbai after Smt.Surekha Yadav to honour her contribution to the field of transportation. She has become an inspiration for many women who aspire to break gender stereotypes and achieve their dreams in a male-dominated profession.

Waooo this is an inspirational achievement, and my heartiest congratulations go out to her again.
