Well done

Well done

Have you ever noticed that high-performing teams don’t just have strong goals—they have a “predisposition to action”? It’s this commitment to right action that separates championship-level teams from the rest.

In a recent masterclass, we explored what makes some teams consistently outperform. We had insights from a 20-year veteran of the All Blacks, one of the most successful teams in sports history. Since the 1950s, they’ve maintained a win rate over 75%—a legacy of excellence built on alignment between culture and performance.

In teams like these, action and intent match up every time, no matter who’s in the game. The All Blacks say it best: “we steward the jersey.” It’s about preserving a high-performance system and passing it forward. This kind of commitment is the hallmark of championship-capable teams.

How do you build alignment between your team’s culture and performance?

Are your team’s inspiring visions and bold ideas translating into results?

In a recent review with a leadership team, I noticed a familiar challenge. Despite an aspirational culture, their outcomes didn’t match their intentions. In high-performance teams, the key is alignment—the ability to turn well said into well done.

From my experience leading expert teams, a simple mantra makes the difference: “we do what we say, and we do it on time.” This approach brings clarity, keeps actions aligned with words, and ensures meaningful progress.

The best teams prioritize this “meeting place” where culture and performance converge. When values and beliefs are consistently put into action, results follow.

What strategies help your team bridge the gap between vision and delivery?
