Weld Tip - Spring loaded Contact Tip

Weld Tip - Spring loaded Contact Tip

Spring Loaded Contact tips have been out for quite some time and are really a great idea. In my own experience they work well so long as the amperage is not too high (225-250 amp max). It is great for aluminum GMAW welding but not so great on SAW welding applications where the current requirements were much higher as well as the contact tip dealing with the flux getting into the spring area caused issues.

Overall for the right applications the spring loaded contact tips are great at giving you a consistent ESO with a controlled constant point of contact in the contact tip which produces great arc stability and reduces wire burn back issues. If you are struggling with wire burn back issues or arc height stability (the bouncing arc) I would definitely give them a try.
