Welcoming Rod Hochman, MD to the Truveta Board

One of my biggest learnings with Truveta has been the critical role our Board of Directors plays and how important it is to have an excellent board in order to earn the trust of all stakeholders, from investors, to employees, to our customers. 6 months ago I was honored, humbled, and grateful that Patrick Caubel , Chief Safety Officer of Pfizer, joined Truveta’s board. ?

I am feeling the same emotions today as we share that Rod Hochman, M.D. , CEO of Providence is joining our Board of Directors, and taking on the role of Chairman. Rod doesn’t require an introduction to many – CEO of Providence (51 hospitals from Alaska down the west coast and over to Texas, with over 120K caregivers), former American Hospital Association board chair, member of GE Healthcare's board of directors, a brilliant visionary, and all-around great human.?

When I first met Rod, it was early in the pandemic. His Providence team had just recently treated the first COVID patient in the US. I was shocked to hear that he wanted to meet in person – I hadn’t left the house in weeks - but so glad I did. Rod shared the vision which he had been discussing with other health system leaders about working together to create something new and meaningful. Shortly after, I recall Rod meeting with Jay Nanduri , and somehow Rod’s vision for healthcare and Jay’s vision for data combined to create even more excitement for the potential of what we now know as Truveta.??

And from there the virtual COVID roadshow which started Truveta began. I recall Rod introducing our team to Wright Lassiter III (then CEO of Henry Ford Health, now CEO of CommonSpirit Health) and joining the call as we made our pitch to Wright’s team.? Same with Barclay Berdan , CEO at Texas Health, John Starcher CEO at Bon Secours Mercy Health, and more. I don’t have many pictures from that era – but it was early 2021, vaccines were starting to become available – and I finally had the opportunity to meet these other visionary leaders in person for the first time…including Jim Skogsbergh advocate from Advocate Health and Terry Shaw from Advent Health. I look at this picture now, and I think it deserves a headline - “Let’s go!!!”?

I recall Rod keynoting our first Truveta Symposium alongside Patrick to discuss these founding moments during the middle of a global pandemic –? and I’m looking forward to having them both back this July when we gather again for Truveta Symposium 2024.??

Having Rod’s support has been so foundational to Truveta to date, and I am so honored, humbled, and grateful that he is now formally our Chairman. Today, as I reflect on the last 4 years, I’m in awe of the original vision of what a consortium of healthcare providers can achieve when they work together toward a shared mission of Saving Lives with Data.?
