Welcoming 2023 After a Breakthrough Year

At Trukera Medical, we’re entering the New Year with swift momentum, after a breakthrough year where we rebranded, launched an exciting new product, and laid the groundwork for an expanded portfolio in corneal health. We’re not easing off the accelerator in 2023—in fact, we’re already hard at work realizing our company’s vision.

Building on an Expanded Vision for Corneal Health

Our company entered a new era in 2022, changing from TearLab to Trukera Medical. The name Trukera (“True + Cornea”) reflects our focus on developing better technologies to objectively diagnose, manage, and advance corneal health for providers and their patients. With osmolarity technology used in over 2 million patient touches every year and growing, totaling over 24 million tests in nearly 50 global markets, Trukera’s numbers are exciting. But we’re committed to pushing further and addressing unmet needs.

Cornea and premium cataract/refractive practices have driven recent growth in Trukera’s point-of-care diagnostics, and we anticipate the trend will continue. Demand for precise, objective data about the cornea stems from heightened awareness of how corneal health impacts surgical outcomes. Case in point: the ASCRS now recognizes osmolarity as an essential preoperative test. Doctors want to ensure the cornea is optimized before surgery to support accurate measurements, better refractive outcomes, and improved recovery. Expect new Trukera offerings to focus on unmet corneal health needs the surgical sector.

Driving Implementation of the ScoutPro Osmolarity System

Soon after becoming Trukera Medical, we unveiled our first product under the new company name, the ScoutPro Osmolarity System. It’s the first and only portable osmometer in the U.S. We introduced the ScoutPro Osmolarity System to customers in September at the World Cornea Congress and at AAO 2022. Market implementation will hit its stride in 2023, with ScoutPro enriching practices throughout North America.

ScoutPro is a response to our customers’ needs. Doctors continue to raise the bar for a smooth, premium patient experience—the perfect environment for a portable device that seamlessly adapts to their patient flow, rather than the other way around. Building on Trukera’s well-established industry-leading accuracy in osmolarity, ScoutPro offers nanoliter volume sample collection and analysis in a single portable device. With ScoutPro, more practices can bring laboratory testing to patients anywhere in the practice for fast, accurate testing in the palm of their hand.
