Welcome to the Week… Let Results Be Your Voice

When I started Fitlife Foods , I remember interviewing a team member at 星巴克 who was transitioning to a Market Leader (our store manager). During the interview, she kept saying, “I’ve got this.” Looking back, it was clear that I should have been asking a lot more questions, especially aligned to values (which we didn’t have at that time), and ensuring they “got” the role, “wanted” the role and had the” capacity” for the role - a concept I had not learned as EOS had not even been developed.
At that time, I didn’t know about LEAN and the Lean Enterprise Institute , EOS Worldwide , or have the years of learning I’ve gained since. At 33, I was a very different person than I am at 47.
As Rory Vaden, MBA CSP CPAE says, “we are most equipped and capable of helping the person we used to be.”
It’s crucial in life to not only to articulate where one is going, but also to share what has been accomplished.
As Scott Bedbury , former CMO of Starbucks said, “Carefully manage and measure all expectations.”
When our achievements align with what we said we were going to do, we build trust within our team, our partners, our families, and our customers.
14 years later, I understand that hiring is best left to people who excel in that area (hence having a lot to do with our growth through the Summer). Recognizing our weaknesses and sharing them builds trust within our team. Newsflash - no one is perfect and everyone knows this so you might as well share and own up to your imperfections. ?

When it comes to doing what you say, I could not be prouder this week of the Tampa Bay Rays organization who said they were going to keep baseball in the area and this week, after 17 years of work delivered.
Another one of my favorites is Richard Branson and Virgin . With all of their entrepreneurial ventures, they do what they say. Are they always right, no and they own up to it when they are wrong, but you know they are going to shoot for the moon and sometimes they will just hit the stars.
As you approach this week, check yourself and see how you are managing expectations and where you are putting results up on the scoreboard that align with what you said you were going to do. You’ll find that business, family and life in general just get a lot better.?
You will not be perfect, but being aware of this when you set those expectations and re-aligning it to a vision and a journey with a goal will help to elevate your credibility.?
