As a reminder, The Apprenticeship Workforce Development (AWD) programme offers a range of training and networking opportunities to support staff involved in apprenticeship delivery. It supports providers and staff at all levels and across diverse roles working in Further and Higher Education settings and employers who deliver apprenticeships.

The AWD programme will include a suite of CPD activities for those delivering apprenticeships, focused on a range of topics to support improved quality of apprenticeship delivery. Activities may include online learning, resources, webinars, training courses and action research projects. It will also include networks and communities of practice to support the sharing of best practice. The programme is funded by the Department for Education (DfE) as a key part of their strategy to drive quality improvement across apprenticeships. The programme is being delivered by the Education and Training Foundation (ETF), in partnership with the Association of Colleges (AoC), Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP), Strategic Development Network (SDN), and University Vocational Awards Council (UVAC), and supported by SQW as an independent evaluation partner. The continuous professional development (CPD) offered through the AWD programme is currently in development. To support the programme’s development, and to ensure that the sector’s training needs are met, the delivery partners are conducting focus groups with those involved in apprenticeship delivery to enable them to share insights about their own and their organisation’s training needs that will help shape the AWD offer.
