Welcome to Translation Connection

Welcome to Translation Connection

The inaugural issue of our LinkedIn newsletter

A reflection of our mission here at Rapport International, Translation Connection is all about bridging the language and cultural divide between your business and the world, in search of greater peace and prosperity for all.?

You may be thinking: What, me translate? Consider that 95% of consumers live outside the US. Only about 20% of those consumers speak English, and less than 5% of them are native English speakers.

Even within the US, more than 20% speak a language other than English at home – the U.S. Census reports that an estimated 120 million Americans (of 332 million total) identify as multicultural. For example, just over half that group identifies as Hispanic or Latino, and their lower median age means at least 20 more years of effective buying power when compared with their non-Hispanic counterparts.?

Worldwide, while 1.35 billion consumers speak English, at least 3.5 billion consumers speak 9 other languages.?

And at least 70% of these consumers want to buy in their native language.?

ENTER: Rapport International’s Translation Connection….?

It’s time to give translation another think – by virtue of an online presence, you’re already global! Turning these “accidental” international visits and sales into a concerted global marketing effort isn’t as hard as you imagine – Omer Manashe, CEO at eMojo, explains how Israeli companies think global from the start, in episode 67 our podcast, The Global Marketing Show: Half Human/Half Machine for Global Business Growth.?

Twice a month, look to us for real-world stories – the successes, challenges, and failures – from people doing business around the world, like Omer.

Expect from us translation and interpretation strategies and best practices, what’s new and exciting in global marketing, and answers to the questions we hear most often from clients. And we’re always good for a laugh or a groan, thanks to a translation fail – to wit: Properly translated, the German “kummerspeck” refers to “excessive weight gain from overeating.” Google Translate returns its literal translation of “grief bacon.” (Which we admit kind of fits?!)?

We’re very excited to share this information with you, our LinkedIn cohorts. Our goal is to have each issue inform and entertain and, most importantly, inspire global growth!

Only 2% of US companies export so there is TREASURE out there to be had, so why not you?

Let’s start the new year off together, with a new mindset and our eyes on the new world market – let’s make a CONNECTION!?

I prefer the term (and indeed the whole concept of) localization. Doing business in different countries/cultures is about so much more than language and translated/interpreted words. Is this a focus of your agency? Thank you.
