?Dear Leaders,
Welcome to the first edition of The Leadership Letter.?I hope this is the first of many letters for leaders, aspiring leaders, and anyone interested in the subject.?
The inspiration from this is what I read on leadership from many different sources on LinkedIn, of which there is a plethora of good information on theory, motivation, and inspiration.?What I often found lacking was discussion and solutions for that always challenging and sometimes annoying concept that all leaders must face:?reality.?If you’re looking for dissection of leadership theory, you won’t find it here.?If you’re looking for inspirational and motivational messages, there are a host of other good sites to provide it.?If you seek answers on how to cope and deal with the realities that leaders face every day, that’s why we’re here.?
As for me, I served 22 years in the United States Army and 24 years with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, with more than 40 years serving in leadership and management positions in both field leadership and staff positions, so most of my perspective will come from military and government leadership.?I won’t profess to be an expert on leading in the business world, but the concepts and realities align nonetheless, so I plan to address these in the same manner.?
I hope you will find this insightful, enlightening, and even entertaining.?If you like it, share it with your friends and colleagues.?If you have further information or insight, please share it with us.?If you disagree with me or a commenter, feel free tell us why but always be respectful.?
Leadership makes things thrive beyond functioning alone and is in too short supply in these days.?Let’s work together to discern what needs to be done to make it better.?
Sincerely,
Tim
