Katie Thompson (She/Her), Talent Sourcing Manager at IGA caught up with Olivia to find out more about her background and how she has found her first couple of weeks working at IGA. You can read more in the article below.

Hi Liv, welcome to the IGA Family. We’re delighted to have you on board! How have you found your first couple of weeks in the business?

Glad to be here! My first week has been fantastic! Lots to take in but every single member of the IGA family has been so welcoming and have totally taken the stress out of the transition. ?

What is your background in recruitment and how did you get into the industry??

I have been in recruitment for the last 5 years, an industry I fell into straight from school - I took a weeks’ work experience with a local recruitment agency and never left! I have been within commercial office recruitment covering permanent, temporary and fixed term contract roles.

What attracted you to join IGA Talent Solutions? What is different about IGA that sets it apart from other recruitment agencies?

IGA had a lot to offer in terms of where I could develop in my career. Their flexible working patterns suited my needs of a better work life balance and the support they offer is amazing. I really feel that no one member of the team is more important than anyone else giving you a true feeling of equality and value, no matter where you are in the business. IGA really care about the service and relationships they have with their clients and candidates – just one week in and I have witnessed this first hand!?

What areas of recruitment do you specialise in? What do you enjoy about recruiting into these areas?

I have in-depth experience in various sectors including Finance, Sales, Customer Service, Admin, Pharmaceutical and Marketing (to name a few). I am now specialising within Actuarial & Insurance and cannot wait to be successful in what is such an interesting and complex sector.?

What do you think are the biggest challenges that your clients face within the actuarial and insurance markets at the moment? How can you support your clients with these challenges and what solutions can you offer?

It is a candidate driven market and candidates are in high demand for these types of roles, meaning lots of candidates have multiple offers on the table. Our job is to convince and secure these candidates the best roles for them as well as the best candidates for our clients. Just in my first week I have seen multiple offers accepted by candidates with counter offers, displaying the huge amount of talent and skill here at IGA! ?

Tell us a bit about yourself and what you like to do in your spare time.

I’m a real people person so any excuse to socialise and meet new people – I’m there! I have been dancing since I was as young as 2 ? years old and in my teenage years I would train from 8.30am – 3.00pm every Saturday, teaching the younger grades as well. I absolutely adore kids and babysit children from 6 months – 11 years over weekends and evenings. I love family barbecues, passionfruit martinis and any chance I get to sing my heart out - It’s a lot to squeeze into a 7 day week! I love to travel and hope to have visited all 7 continents by retirement!
