Welcome to the Team: Joseph Siddiq's Interview
Diamond Industrial Supplies
A family-run business working with UK industry since 1974
As we look to expand and become more competitive in the industry, we have sought to increase our staff for the warehouse. This has led to the hiring of two new warehouse operatives. Today we will focus on Joseph Siddiq and highlight his journey to Diamond. Joseph found this position through Falkirk Council’s ETU (Employment and Training Unit) programme which works with individuals to find a job or real-world training opportunity in the industry of their choosing. Let us investigate the process that brought Joseph to join the Diamond Family!?
?
Good morning, Joseph, it is wonderful to have you join us at Diamond! Why don’t you start by telling us what you were doing before joining Diamond??
Well, I went to Graeme High School and then worked at WebHelp for two years. After that, I was a labourer at construction sites. Then, I worked at People Solutions as a courier for places such as Greencore, MichielDever tires, and Meirs. So, I was pretty busy before starting at Diamond!?
?
It does sound like you were busy! Also, it sounds like you travelled quite a bit. Do you live close by to Diamond now??
Yes, I do, I was born and raised in Falkirk. I lived for a few years in Alloa, however, have made my way back to Falkirk. I currently live with my girlfriend Jade and springer spaniel Milo. It is nice to live close to work, especially when it comes to paying for petrol!?
?
Yes, I can imagine! Can you tell me why you decided to take a position like this??
I was looking for a full-time job for a while that was also suitable for the experience I had previously. A friend told me about how he got his current job from ETU, so I got in contact with them. I was looking for a position that was hands-on and interactive. So, working in this type of field just felt right.?

That’s great to hear that you’ve found the right fit for yourself. It’s important to be comfortable with your job especially if that’s where you are most of the time. Speaking of time, what do you do for fun outside of work??
I enjoy going for drives and eating out. Honestly, the places nearby aren’t that exciting to eat at! I also spend a lot of time walking my dog, watching Netflix, and gaming when I have the chance. I am happy though cause I live close by to my mom and two brothers. Sometimes my mom and I will take the dog on walks together, other times I game with my brother. He's really good at games so it's fun when he’s on my team!?
?
What part of working at Diamond Industrial have you enjoyed the most??
I am happy to be a part of an expanding and growing business. It's nice to be a part of something bigger than myself! It's nice being a part of a team, they are all so welcoming. It feels more like a family than a business to be honest. I also enjoy all the people I interact with; we interact with people from big and small companies as well as the general public. There is always someone new to talk to or something to learn which makes coming to work enjoyable!?
?
You had previously talked about finding this position through ETU, can you explain your experience a bit for me??
I am thankful for their help, it was a good experience to be involved with them. I felt comfortable telling them what I wanted, and they were able to find a job that really suited me. I felt like they really listened and were available to answer questions anytime I needed help. I was fortunate to work with them out of high school previously and was happy to work with them again to get this job. They were able to help me find a better-suited job now than what I was doing before which is what I needed.?

Thank you so much for chatting with me today, I am so happy to hear that your experience so far has been positive!?
Well thank you, I really am happy to have this opportunity with Diamond!?
