Welcome to the Studio: A New Approach...

I’ll be honest with you; after welcoming three new team members over the past year, it’s clear that these Welcome to the Studio articles are not a favorite activity for their subjects. Occasionally it devolves into a matter of me chasing our newest team member around the office for an interview! As they say, hindsight is 20/20, so just like we create a tailor-made experience for our clients, we’re going to customize this article to suit our fellow introverts and introduce not only our new Project Manager, but also a new design program we’ve been using.

[Author’s Note: With that being said, I do feel like I should apologize to the other introverts on the team that I’ve subjected to an entire article.]

So, without further ado, please join us in welcoming our new Project Manager and self-certified introvert, Kim; along with the tool that is taking the project experience to the next level, Revit!

Taking on her own clients while also supervising the drawings and documentation of other projects, the role of Project Manager involves wearing many hats. This aspect of the job is an exciting one, according to Kim, as she relishes the opportunity to unfurl her wings and challenge herself. With thirty years of experience in drafting, she came to Studio21 Architects with a top-tier aptitude in the technicalities. Now, as Project Manager, she gets to conceptualize designs that perfectly suit her clients’ needs. Like a puzzle, a project requires many pieces to be considered and assembled; as a detail-oriented individual and a lover of problem solving, she feels right at home with the project process.

Our commitment to the client experience is unwavering, which is why we are so excited to have Kim on the team. Something else worthy of a grand welcome is our whole architectural team employing Revit. While Revit is something we have been using for some time now, our whole team switching over is quite?exciting, especially for those going through design projects of their own. There are many differences between Revit and tools we’ve used in the past, but I won’t go too far into that; the industry terms are a bit out of this writer’s depth! The compelling difference between Revit and the earlier tools used for mapping out designs lies in the proximity to real life. Revit lends itself to a far more experiential design plan, which is a boon for our clients because they get to visualize their future space much earlier in the process. Instead of 2D plans, our team can create three-dimensional representations of a design, with material selections applied so our clients can see their stylistic preferences realized to a much higher degree.

The fact that Revit provides a more refined visualization of a design falls well within the ethos of Studio21 Architects: the best design must come alongside the best experience. Great design is not the limit; it’s our baseline. Through tools like Revit, we can deliver plans that feel so much closer to the real thing,?and with our new Project Manager, we ensure that our clients are well taken care of during every step of the process. We will always be committed to heightening the client’s experience, and these two new additions are guaranteed to help us in that regard.
