Welcome Steven Everaert!

Steven, you have recently started working at kineo finance in Switzerland as an Analyst. The whole kineo team welcomes you. Can you introduce yourself in a few sentences?

Thank you, it's great to be part of such a dynamic and welcoming team! Prior to joining kineo finance, I worked as a venture analyst at the Swiss Ventures Group where I rotated within the group and experienced the venture ecosystem from the perspectives of 3 different business units. My last placement was with the Diabetes Venture Fund, which focuses on early-stage ventures. I started my career at the chair of entrepreneurship at ETH Zurich. While there, I helped build and lead the Certificate of Advanced Studies in Entrepreneurial Leadership in Technology Ventures, which aims at ETH and deep tech founders to develop the necessary skill set for the foundation and management of a startup.

Why did you decide to work at kineo? What appealed to you in particular?

Radical innovations that solve a real problem often have a hardware component. For instance, think about life-saving medical devices such as surgical robots and diagnostics. Despite this, during my time in VC, I observed that most hardware-enabled startups faced challenges securing funding, as investors were reluctant to invest in them due to their capital-intensive nature.?When I learned about kineo's innovative financing solution, I realized that it was an excellent complement to equity in such cases and recognized its potential. Besides its innovative financing solution, I was impressed by kineo's employee-centric culture, which immediately resonated with me.

What do you like to do most in your free time?

I am passionate about calisthenics which are bodyweight exercises such as push/pull-ups, handstands, and even the human flag (feel free to google). Besides that, I enjoy immersing myself in nature. I am particularly fond of activities such as skiing/snowboarding, hiking, bouldering, and any new experience I can get my hands on. Despite my love for the outdoors, I also love to organize board game nights. Whatever time is left, I prioritize spending it with my loved ones, including family and friends.
