Welcome to the season of experiences.

We have long wondered what would eventually cause the decline of Black Friday and all the inconspicuous consumption. It fought back against the "Green Friday" and certainly wasn't deterred by the video footage of people trampling other humans. Yet, Black Friday seems to face some headwinds from three things;

  1. A dilution of the actual day when retailers started spreading out Black Friday deals the days in advance, watering down the actual day of reckoning.
  2. Amazon and all of ecommerce taking away the frenetic need to stand in line when you just need to stand at your front door for a delivery.
  3. The growing demand for experiences > products because, let's be honest, it really isn't that fun standing in lines, rushing the doors and trampling your aunt for the latest flatscreen.

We are seeing not only a generation become more interested in experiences, but also a wave of this trend moving through the generations. Blame those damn millennials, reading Joe Pine and getting all into the Experience Economy. They've changed how we consume and hopefully for the betterment of humanity.

We, of course, have taken more than one page out of Joe Pine's books -- and in this case we've brought two exceptional examples to our stage Capsule's Think & Link series. We have a co-founder from Eataly, Franco Denari along with the founder of Face Foundrie, Michele Henry.

Living a life of abundance in experiences is a worthy goal. Spending time in both of the experiences should be on your short list to accomplish your personal goals. We also have a bountiful gift bag filled with products from many of our past guests, because it enhances the experience and who doesn't love a gift bag.
