Welcome to SearchHub smartQuery V2.3 – From unable to enable

I’m excited to announce the release of smartQuery’s latest major update, V2.3, packed with groundbreaking improvements that significantly enhance its functionality.

Introducing Result Modifications: Until now, smartQuery was limited to selecting the best available result based on a given intent, which constrained its effectiveness due to the limitations of the underlying search platform and its configuration. With the introduction of resultModifications, we’re empowering our customers to automatically refine their search results with minimal integration effort.

When enabled, the smartQuery response can now include an optional list of up to four distinct object types, each detailing how to improve the initial search result. Each modification type is linked to a corresponding list of document IDs (docIDs).

The available resultModification types need to be applied during result generation, to guarantee correct scrolling, filtering, sorting, ranking and personalization, are as follows:

  • Add: Inserts specified IDs into the result, allowing them to be discovered.
  • Remove: Excludes products with the specified IDs from the result.
  • Pin: Places specified product IDs at the top of the result.
  • Penalize: Lowers the score of specified products, pushing them toward the bottom.

Improved Event Splitting for Query Testing: To facilitate faster and more accurate query testing, we’ve introduced a highly recommended Extended Integration. This solution uses the SearchCollector sessionId to distribute search traffic more intelligently, reducing imbalanced sample sizes and enabling even quicker, more reliable test outcomes.

Advanced Support for Timed Redirects: Previously, timed redirects were managed through the deployment process, leading to challenges in timing accuracy (e.g., exact intervals like 05:00 - 11:00) and across different time zones. With version 2.3, smartQuery now directly controls timing logic, providing more precise and flexible management of timed redirects.

We are more than thrilled about this release as it's the perfect delivery vehicle for upcoming NeuralInfusion? capability - where you can stay up-to-date here: https://www.searchhub.io/neuralinfusion-a-blueprint-towards-more-relevant-and-efficient-ecommerce-vector-retrieval-part-1
