Special Feature

Creating Avoidable Blindness-Free Villages

With support from Standard Chartered Bank, SCEH is transforming rural eye health through the Avoidable Blindness-Free Villages initiative.


This initiative includes: door-to-door screenings, free glasses for refractive errors & referrals for surgeries and home visits & re-counseling for severe cases.


Spreading Light and Hope: DaanUtsav at SCEH

This October, SCEH marked DaanUtsav – The Joy of Giving Week with a heartwarming initiative led by our Oculoplasty, Ocular Oncology, and Donor Relations teams.


Focusing on children fighting eye cancer (retinoblastoma), the program raised funds for their diagnosis and treatment.?


Community Engagement

World Sight Day 2024: Love Your Eyes, Kids

This World Sight Day, SCEH brought pediatric eye care to the forefront with the theme "Love Your Eyes, Kids."

The Pediatrics Department organised different activities across the SCEH network to spread awareness of the importance of pediatric eye care. A painting competition was also held on the theme ‘Futuristic Glasses,’ where children showcased their creativity.

WOS Annual Conference 2024: Live Surgeries @ SCEH

As part of the Women Ophthalmologic Society (WOS) Annual Conference 2024, SCEH hosted live cataract and glaucoma surgeries.?

The event, expertly organised by Dr. Suneeta Dubey and Dr. Neha Kapur, provided a valuable platform for knowledge sharing. It further strengthened the hospital’s reputation as a leader in ophthalmology, driving future innovation and collaboration in eye care.


Workshops

DMEK Surgical Skill Transfer Workshop

In October, the Department of Cornea hosted a two-day Descemet’s Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty (DMEK) workshop. The event saw participation from five external and seven internal candidates.

Day one included didactic lectures and hands-on graft preparation in the wet lab. On day two, participants observed live DMEK surgeries, followed by an extensive discussion.

Enhancing Patient-Centric Care

SCEH hosted a workshop on Patient-Centric Care (PCC).

The session focused on respecting patient preferences, coordinating care, and providing emotional support. Through discussions and breakout sessions, participants developed strategies to implement PCC effectively.?


Partner Engagement

Optometry Expertise and Training with Orbis

Senior Optometrist, Mr. Prem Kumar, was invited as volunteer faculty by Orbis to train optometrists in orthoptics in Sitapur. He also shared his expertise by training optometrists at Green Vision Centre, supporting Orbis initiatives.?

Collaborations

Empowering the Visually Impaired with Vision-Aid

Vision-Aid in collaboration with SCEH started Shri Lachhman Dass Gupta Vision-Aid Resource Centre “Ujjala”, for the visually impaired in 2022.

This computer center aims to help the visually impaired gain access to tech capabilities and make them computer literate by using essential tech skills. In October, we celebrated the graduation of students who completed their certification in computer skills and other training courses.


Achievements

World Anaesthesia Day 2024: Celebrating Our Surgical Backbone

At SCEH, our dedicated anesthesiology team managed over 3,000 cases last year, spanning pediatric to geriatric patients, including those with complex conditions. Their expertise, especially in pediatric anesthesia, combines precision and compassion, ensuring safe, pain-free surgical care for all.

SCEH at IMMU-NOCON 2024: Advancing Glaucoma Research

Dr. Nisha Sinha proudly represented SCEH at IMMU-NOCON 2024, for her research on “Role of IL-6/STAT3 axis in immunological homeostasis of glaucomatous irises and filtering bleb outcomes”. Her work contributes valuable insights into the field of immunology and glaucoma treatment.
