Welcome To The Recruiting World
The day was August 21, 2017. It was a beautiful and fresh South Florida morning. It was my first day of work as a Search Consultant and I was excited. Six o'clock in the morning never felt so good. I jumped out of bed with a new sense of energy.
I slid into my slim fit slacks and my nicely pressed green polo. After eating my bowl of oatmeal glazed with cinnamon I hopped into my 1995 Mazda Protégé and I headed east on my way to my 11 mile commute. I had this “I'm ready for this new journey” grin my face. I was ready!!!
Being a search consultant/recruiter means more than job placements. It means being:
1. highly prepared
2. highly motivated
3. highly empathetic
4.highly attentive and lastly,
5. highly patient
If not, well, you will be highly disappointed. I am elated about my new journey. I'm looking forward to making new friends and lasting relationships with every interaction. Welcome me to the recruiting world!

7 年Hi, Cleveland. Thanks for tagging me Gloria P.. Cleveland, not only did I like your post but you recounted my first day with my current company Master Electronics. Like you, I'm a stickler for being punctual. At the time my boss was the Senior VP of Sales and Product. Not only did I have him waiting for me but also his executive assistant (my new-hire match). While stuck in traffic I communicated with them both giving them one time that I thought I would reach the office. But had to call again because the traffic jam was so bad. Talking about a bad first impression. Man, I wanted to turn invisible once I FINALLY arrived on my first day of work more than 30 minutes late. I felt terrible on the inside but kept my composure. I couldn't help but wonder what my team thought of me, showing up late the first day. In the two years since I've had plenty of opportunities to put my best foot forward and I'm glad my SVP (now company President) did not allow day one to taint his view of me as a contributing team member.
