Video is the reason music videos had such an impact on people. They bring the viewer into the world of the artist. One of the most successful bands ever, Guns N Rose's, made very well produced videos that blew up their career in particular the videos for November Rain, Don't Cry and Estraged. It put the viewers inside the mind of lead singer Axl Rose a very intellectual creative and often scarry place. The viewer took a journey and wanted to continue that journey by purchasing the 2 records released at the same time, an industry first, in 1991. Which also led to one of the longest most successful tours in music history. The live experience gave fans/followers to belong to something bigger than themselves. KISS also rose to stardum using the visual medium at live shows, album covers and photos. Alice Cooper, Motley Crue and Twisted Sister are other great examples.
