Welcome to The Palindome
Welp, friends, I'm leaving my office and moving to a collaborative space with two coworkers on Wednesday. It's called the BA Lab on the floor plan, but thanks to my coworker Noah Miller , I'm calling it The Palindome.
At first, I mourned losing my privacy. There's something empowering about having a door and being able to scarf my lunch in secrecy. Do a little ditty around the office when I was feeling good.
When I got past those initial feelings, I was able to see the opportunity in a shared space and also find new ways to maintain some semblance of privacy. How you ask? Let me break it down for you.
Focused time. I am at my absolute best from 8 to 10 a.m. As much as possible, I will devote that time to doing deep-thought work. Uninterrupted time unless everything is on fire.

Intentional breaks. I spend a lot of time in my office and sometimes look up and it's lunch time. This shared space provides opportunities to take breaks and actually leave my work space and take a REAL lunch. I'm hoping that real lunch also encourages me to finish reading the Leveling Up series.
Personalize. Being in a shared space doesn't mean losing my individuality. I'll bring my plant homies, but beyond that, I've decided my little corner of The Palindome will reflect my style just like my office does now. Obviously I need to downsize, BUT decorating a new space will be fun. I have something in mind, but before I go H.A.M., I need to see how much space I have to take over.
Infuse Fun. I've created a whole universe and backstory for The Palindome. I'm even thinking we should have a mascot, but since it's a shared space, I want to get buy-in from my roomies.
I'm looking forward to what we create in The Palindome. On to another new phase here at the Data Center.
