Celebrating a New World of Baby Care Made for Melanated Babies

While raising our own kids, we found that there was a lack of baby care products specifically designed for children of color. We know that our skin is extra-special and yet there aren’t brands squarely focused on melanated babies. In addition, we did not see babies of color in all of their diverse hues from various ethnicities or their village of loved ones being celebrated and placed at the center of baby care brands.?

That’s why last year we announced the launch of our newest company, PROUDLY, to help fill that gap. We are committed to building a community to support families of color and we’re excited to launch our products into the world for the first time ever. Starting today, our Gentle Baby Wash, Hydrating Baby Lotion, Nourishing Oil, All Over Balm, and Gentle Touch Baby Wipes are available via www.proudly.com.

Thoughtfully Formulated for Children of Color

We wanted our products to be intentional because we know as parents how stressful it can be not knowing what may trigger a child’s eczema or irritate their skin. Each product has been co-designed with dermatologist Dr. Naana Boakye, who has thoughtfully studied and selected every ingredient and left out all that sketchy stuff families may worry about.?

Together, we’ve developed cleaner, functional, plant-based, moisturizing formulas to address the unique needs of melanated babies, who are more prone to skin concerns such as general dryness, eczema, cradle cap, and acne. It was also important to us that our products are accessibly-priced. Each of our five products available at launch is under $12.

Made For Us, By Us

We recognize the team building this brand needed to understand diverse lived experiences in order to build products for underrepresented groups and tell stories that resonate with us. PROUDLY is proud to be diversely founded, owned and operated. We’ve brought in physician leaders like dermatologist Dr. Naana Boakye and pediatrician Dr. Heather McGowan, both women of color who have treated many patients of color in their years of practice. We’re also honored to have Pamela Cholankeril as PROUDLY Brand President, leading a diverse, representative team and mission-aligned partners in day-to-day operations.

We want to showcase that companies can be built differently and result in both business and community impact. Everything we do is driven by our PROUDLY community and we’re so excited to hear how our products fit into your family.
