Want to make an Air Force-wide impact? Aether Sprint has kicked off!

Tesseract is kicking off this year’s Aether Sprint competition, where frontline Airmen have the opportunity to share their perspectives to accelerate solutions!

Have you or your team of Airmen been thinking about a solution to a recurring problem? The Air Force logistics enterprise faces plenty of challenges on a daily basis. Aether Sprint is designed to identify specific problem sets and accelerate field driven solutions.

Please review the questions below and pick one challenge your team would like to pursue. After selecting your topics, answer their respective subset questions as part of this application. Over the next six months leading up to the?Logistics Officer Association?Symposium (LOA, March 2023), each team will work through unpacking the problem and identifying the most viable solution. As we get closer to LOA, each team will provide their solution to AF/A4L (details TBD; expect paper/video). From that engagement, finalists will be selected to brief the AF/A4 on stage at LOA (details TBD; expect briefer and supporting info).

Here are the questions for this year's competition:

  1. How might we leverage commercial supply chain processes and open-source data to better influence material management, movement and positioning?
  2. How might we augment or mitigate shortfalls in supply chain and organic repair/manufacturing so that we may enable more usability/versatility in Aerospace Ground Equipment and/or Aviation Support Equipment?
  3. How might we refurbish or manufacture components in a disconnected and mobile environment?
  4. How might we prepare/process cargo loads for an ACE environment using non-traditional delivery methods (Air Drops, Rocket Cargo, etc)?
  5. How might we utilize advancements such as process improvement, distributed ledger technologies (Blockchain), or automation to mitigate supply chain risk and streamline supply chain operations?

Submission are due by 22 November 2022

Want to learn more about the Basing and Logistics Enterprise Strategy?

The Pentagon can make strategy a bit boring. Have you tried reading through any of those documents?! We took a different approach. Not only can you find this document on an easy to read PDF, we also recorded a podcast to talk about our logistics strategy.

In this episode we sat down with Colonel James Hartle, the Associate Director of Air Force Logistics. While we talked about topics as big as strategic competition, we brought it back to the tactical level and discussed what can be done as individual Airmen to contribute towards logistics as a strategic deterrent.

This is a can't miss episode for frontline Airmen across Air force Logistics. Through this podcast platform, we will continue to give Airmen at seat at the table to listen in on conversations across the Pentagon and all corners of the Air Force. Who else would you like to hear from?

Want to join our community? The LNO Network is here to connect you to the right people and resources.

Visit our website and request to join our Slack Channel. We have over 600 LNOs ready to help.

A suggestion for a future podcast episode is Michael Courtney, who is leading a multi-faceted USAF technology advancement through an initiative called Aerial Port of the Future (APoF). I spoke with many airmen at A/TA last week in Denver and they were thrilled to learn about the projects already underway, including a replacement for the Gates software. I hope y'all and Mike are able to connect!

Tomorrow we plan on hosting a quick sync with our coaches. A few discussion points will be how to tell a #userstory And personally I follow Scribe Media pretty religious because they have almost mastered the art of story telling. In JeVon McCormick s Modern Leader he talks leading with understanding. And the Art of story telling is truly inspirational. We hope to bring some of these lessons to our Coaches so they can pass them down to our contestants

?????? SPOILER ALERT ?? .... After the firstl round of eliminations... All projects will migraMobilizeizeVision. WHY? ??Because this will encourage sustainability and potential growth of projects that were a great Idea but did not make it to the finals WHY IS THAT IMPORTANT? ?? Because every great innovation stems from a pain point that is effecting a larger group of people/Airmen Super stoked and happy to be working with Jade Baranski (they/them) Stacey Kessler Jerry Ramey Romeo A.J. Augustine and team in making this campaign successful
