If you watch the TV news or read any of the daily papers you’d be forgiven for thinking the economy has just about ground to halt. But despite the doom and gloom being reported around the state of the economy, the commercial property market continues to perform well.
Demand for industrial space remains exceptionally strong, with modern, well-equipped and well-located property turning around particularly quickly. Across our core region demand continues to outstrip supply, though it is pleasing to see signs that this is beginning to be addressed.
Coventry, in particular, is benefitting from a wave of investment reflecting the city’s new-found confidence in the wake of its year as City of Culture and its strategic positioning as a home of innovation and expertise in sustainable technologies, all of which bodes well for the future.
The office market – written off by all and sundry during the pandemic – has responded to the easing of restrictions with plenty of vigour as companies recognise that the future of work does not entirely revolve around a laptop on the kitchen table. We have seen significant strength in both sales and lettings as businesses take important strategic decisions and shape their own futures. I have no doubt this trend will develop throughout the remainder of the year and well into 2023.

And with the economy looking increasingly uncertain, the investment market is a natural home for those wishing to make the most efficient use of their cash. We have seen a significant weight of money being moved into property over the last couple of months and would anticipate this market remaining buoyant for some time yet.
