Love is in the air this February, and I am happy to author this month's newsletter to share the love I have for all our Parent Education Providers across the state!? During February, Family Support Engagement Month, it is more important than ever to uplift the work our providers do every day to empower parents across the Commonwealth.? January Activities and Adventures

After a restful winter break, PCAK staff were back doing work all across Kentucky!? Check out our reach from January below!

• 1.13.25- Amanda, Janna, and Melanie hosted a Child Abuse Prevention Month planning call with our Partners across the state?
• 1.14.25- Melanie and Jill met with the Greater Louisville Building and Construction Trades Council and AFL- CIO to thank them for their past support and maintain connections moving forward?
• 1.21.25- Jill attended the Lexington Nonprofit Coalition meeting, hosted by the Kentucky Nonprofit Network?
• 1.22.25- Melanie attended the Kentucky Employee Charitable Campaign wrap-up event in Frankfort?
• 1.22.25- Jill attended the Lexington Nonprofit Coalition meeting with the Central Kentucky Caucus of State Legislators?
• 1.22.25- All staff attended a fundraising training hosted for us by Prevent Child Abuse America?
• 1.23.25- 1.24.25- Chris attended the Child Care Collaborative Retreat hosted by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce?
• 1.23.25- Amanda attended the Fayette County Child Collaborative Response Committee meeting, hosted by It's Time Lexington?
• 1.23.25- Melanie attended the Purple Star Advisory Board Meeting?
• 1.27.25- Jill attended the Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board Meeting?
• 1.28.25- Chris trained dentists, hygienists, and orthodontists on Recognizing and Reporting in Frankfort?
• 1.29.25- All staff attended our Upstream Academy Press Conference (more on this below!)?
• 1.30.25- Amanda hosted a monthly call with our Parent Education Providers

Upstream Academy Applications Announced

Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky is excited to announce our new Upstream Academy.? The Academy?will allow at least one person from each Kentucky county to be trained in the latest child abuse and neglect prevention messaging and strategies.??After successful completion of the Academy, members will be required to provide presentations and trainings on evidence-based and evidence-informed curricula in their local communities.??

Welcoming Amanda Clark, our new Upstream Academy Coordinator

Join us in welcoming our newest staff member, Amanda Clark!? Amanda C. is serving in a brand new role as our Upstream Academy Coordinator.? She will be available to all applicants to the Academy to answer questions and coordinate all things Upstream!? In her free time,?she enjoys reading, walking with her dog, Luna, and spending time with her husband and three teenagers.??

Over the past few months, PCAK has been busy creating new Partnerships, trainings, and more!? This section covers a few of these new and noteworthy things from us this month.

Welcoming Mickey Little, our new Lean On Me Kentucky Coordinator

Join us in welcoming one of our newest staff members, Mickey Little, to the PCAK team.? Mickey is serving as our Lean On Me Kentucky Coordinator.? He will be working to raise awareness about the factors that protect families from overwhelming stress, and providing resources and training to help community members strengthen families.? Mickey comes to PCAK with a vast experience in mental health, substance use, and school counseling.? Mickey enjoys cooking, traveling, being outdoors, being with friends, and coming home to his dog, Dolly Pearl.

Child Abuse Prevention Month Materials Released!

Child Abuse Prevention Month will be here before you know it, and this year we are excited to focus on hopeful futures for all children and families!? Our Resource Guide is currently available to all our Partners and stakeholders, and we look forward to all the great activities we have planned leading up to and throughout April.? On 3.22.25, join us for a fun, Spinwheels for Prevention event at CycleBar Patchen Square (in Lexington).? Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or just getting started, this event is the perfect way to get active while supporting Kentucky children and families. Spots are limited!
