ESG in the Workplace: Bridging the Gap Between Promises and Action
Many businesses make bold ESG commitments, but a gap between promises and action risks credibility, talent retention, and long-term success. To stay competitive, organisations must prioritise transparency, measurable progress, and genuine employee engagement to turn ESG rhetoric into reality.
Fog Harvesting: A Sustainable Water Source – In Chile’s arid Alto Hospicio, researchers show that fine mesh panels can capture fog, collecting 300,000 litres of water weekly. This method could reduce reliance on trucked-in water and support irrigation and farming.
Construction Begins on ‘Electricity Superhighway’ Eastern Green Link 1 – Work has started on the £2.5 billion Eastern Green Link 1, a subsea project connecting Scotland and England. The 190km cable will transport renewable energy, boost energy security, and deliver economic growth, with community benefits and jobs for local areas.
UK Government Launches Clean Industry Bonus – The UK government has unveiled a £27 million per gigawatt Clean Industry Bonus to support offshore wind projects. The bonus encourages investment in areas transitioning from oil and gas, boosting skilled jobs and reducing industrial emissions across the sector.
