Welcome to our December Monthly Roundup!

Welcome to our December Monthly Roundup!

It’s the final roundup of 2024, so to round out the year we are celebrating some of the incredible things that our supporters have done this year to spread some Christmas joy across our hospitals.

This year volunteers, fundraisers, local businesses, schools, community groups, and staff have all helped, from bringing Santa to our children’s wards to spreading festive cheer with Christmas Jumper Day and carolling.

First of all, we’d like to say a huge thank you to the choirs from primary and high schools, soloists, and church and community groups that have come along to sing at our hospitals.

It has been a huge boost for staff and patients to see the smiling faces and hear some festive favourites sung throughout the day. Over 60 choirs have come to our hospitals Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Heartlands, Good Hope, and Solihull and their hard work has been really appreciated by the visitors who stopped to listen or managed to hear them down the corridor.

We are very lucky here at the charity to have the support of a lot of businesses and community groups close to our hospitals and across Birmingham and the West Midlands. This year, we have once again had an incredible response from those who wanted to bring some Christmas sparkle to the poorly children staying in our hospitals over the festive period.

Last weekend, Coleshill Auto Breakfast Meet came to Heartlands Hospital with a convoy of classic cars filled with presents for patients. They are not alone though, companies including Nexus Care, Hobday Solutions, The Works, OP group and many, many others donated to help put a smile on the faces of the many children treated at our hospitals on Christmas Day so they don’t feel left out. These donations make a huge difference to our patients and their families, so we have been overwhelmed by their support and kindness.

Every year our Festive Jumper Day gets a great response from staff and this year was no different!

For a donation to the charity, lots of staff came to work in their favourite Christmas jumper or flashing festive badge on the 12 December. Every year Festive Jumper Day brings smiles to staff and patients alike, as well as raising money to help patients having to be in hospital at Christmas.

Strive in 2025!

We have also been busy this month getting everything ready for next year – so that fundraisers, staff and volunteers can reach new heights, take on new challenges and have the adventure of a lifetime while raising much needed funds for their local hospital.

You can help to raise money for patients, their families, and staff at the QE, Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull Hospitals and you can even specify a ward or department that you would like your sponsorship money to go towards.

We have something for everyone, from pub quizzes and fine dining events to marathons, skydives and abseils. If you’re looking to challenge yourself in 2025 you can even join us on our once-in-a-lifetime trip to trek along the Great Wall of China.

Find out more about our upcoming events and keep your eyes peeled for new ones, by clicking the link here: www.hospitalcharity.org/events

Thank you again to all our amazing supporters – we wish you all the best for the festivities and a happy and healthy New Year!
