Reel Impact: Applications Open 13th May!

It's less than three weeks until the launch of our brand-new programme, Reel Impact! Supporting Black and Global Majority talent working in film, TV, and cinema, as well as Black and Global Majority-led production companies and organisations, the scheme will be running three rounds of funding for individuals (up to £10k per applicant) and organisations (up to £25k per applicant) - with the first of these funding rounds launching on 13th May! Before launch we have been hosting a series of webinars to enable people to find out more about eligibility and the application process. Bectu Launch New Skills Passport For Film And TV HMUA

Last month, Bectu launched a new ‘Trainee Skills Passport’ to support Hair and Makeup Artists to succeed in the UK’s film and TV industry. The trainee passport, which is optional to complete, provides a useful guide – for new entrants and those transferring to the industry from allied professions – to the skills needed to work in hair and makeup departments in the film and TV industry. Creative UK Launches North of Tyne Investment Grants

Designed to support freelancers and SMEs working in the culture and creative sector based in the North of Tyne, this new programme from Creative UK offers up grants of up to £8,000 to enable freelancers and SMEs to build on their commercial ideas, and to create opportunities to become more sustainable or grow their businesses. The Centre for Excellence in Media Practice at Bournemouth University has released new research - Where have all the PMs gone? Addressing the production management skills gaps in UK TV. The new paper explores the experiences and motivations of Production Managers working in UK television, as well as the alarming numbers who have left, creating an ongoing skills gap for the industry. Calling All Production Workers With Experience In Reality TV!?

University of Nottingham researchers are looking for people from all roles and grades who are willing to be interviewed for its ReCARE TV project, which aims to improve care in Reality TV production. If you’re selected, interviews will be online and take roughly 90-minutes, and you’ll be offered a £20 voucher as thanks. Contributions will be treated anonymously.
