Welcome to the next generation of VisitScotland leaders?

By Kerri Gonigle, Junior HR Business Partner, Human Resources???

We’re thrilled to announce the newest members of our team - our 2023 graduates. Each brimming with enthusiasm, eager to learn and very ambitious, our new cohort of graduates will have the valuable opportunity to gain hands-on work experience over the next two years.?

Our support begins at the recruitment stage with interview guidance to help our graduates take that leap from academia into the professional world of work.??

Working across six different departments, our graduates will receive ongoing mentorship from their individual teams, line-manager, and a designated “buddy” providing that extra support.??

It was great to get most of our graduates together last week, our induction process really is like throwing our arms out and welcoming each new graduate to the VisitScotland fold. We set about a fun "spaghetti tower challenge" to break the ice and encourage our graduates to work together as a team.

Integral to this, is building a sense of community for our graduates to feel inspired and supported.??

Without further ado, let's meet our grads! Welcome to:?

?Each graduate will embark on their own individual journey to gain valuable experience within their respective fields. We want to ensure our future leaders have the best start to a rewarding career. ? ?

As the new Graduate Financial Analyst, I will review ledger transactions for accuracy, support reconciliations, and ensure precise financial reporting through journals. I will also collaborate on projects for process improvement, assist with audits, and provide administrative support. In the next two years, I aim to become CIPFA-qualified, and I hope to become a valuable member of the finance team.? Diana Gutiérrez, Graduate Financial Analyst?

Working with our colleagues in the Learning and Development team, we’ve also put together a programme of training and coaching opportunities for our graduates with Level-up. ?

Our graduates will also have the chance to participate in familiarisation trips - exploring what Scotland has to offer from its stunning landscapes to its rich history and culture. As well as the opportunity to attend industry events, and engage with tourism stakeholders across Scotland.

This has been my first experience of working on our graduate programme and I have been inspired by the commitment from the organisation around our staffs learning and development. ?

It’s been an exciting recruitment period for the HR team, and I’m thrilled to introduce you to the next generation of VisitScotland leaders.?

Whether it's visitors or employees we know a thing or two about making people feel welcome. To find out more about working at VisitScotland, visit our website.??
