Welcome to a new school year!
Glenn Vollebregt MSc, CPA, CMA, ICD.D
President and CEO at St. Lawrence College
Last week across our three campuses and in communities around the globe, we welcomed students to the beginning of their fall semester. While we didn’t welcome everyone through our doors in the usual fashion, we have begun opening figurative doors and providing opportunities to students pursuing their academic goals. As different as this September may be, there are many things that remain the same, mainly what the start of a new school year means.
A new school year signifies a new beginning and for me, it always represents hope and opportunity. There is an energy to this time of year, and a sense of anticipation that I equate with being excited about what is possible. There is also a sense of hope as students begin assessing their path forward. Our skilled and professional faculty continue to create and deliver world-class programming and training and our teams are here to support every step of the student journey.
I am confident this will be a great year at SLC. Our strategic plan SLC in Five will continue to guide us, and we are furthering the important work of equity, diversity, and inclusion at SLC while remaining engaged with our communities regionally, nationally, and internationally. Our students and alumni continue to inspire us with their dedication and accomplishments, and the recent re-brand of our varsity athletics to SLC Surge is just one example of the many new and exciting things we have underway.
To our new and returning students, and our employees, your health and safety continue to be our number one priority. I hope you will remember that all teams at SLC, from the academic schools, student services including health and wellness, student success, and more, and the entire college leadership team are here for questions and feedback at any time.
As I say in this year’s welcome video, the start of a new school year is a time to grow and a time to connect. I wish all new and returning students a smooth start to the fall semester – and I thank our team of employees and community partners for their ongoing commitment to putting SLC students first. I remain as always #ProudtobeLSC
