?? Welcome to New Readers ??

??? Hello friends, I'm happy to connect. ?

Let me introduce you to my personal newsletter that gives me a space to connect the dots in all things holistic health & wellness - from our broken healthcare system to data-driven tools to inform and elicit change behavior like never before. You can expect to learn, to grow, and to possibly be challenged as we dive into so many fascinating topics together.

My goals are to empower us to grow in a healthier direction with a more informed decision making across our health span while celebrating innovations of real change in the marketplace for everyday consumers.

Here we are fostering an optimistic, enlightened, and sometimes indignant collective culture of health exploring aspects of lifestyle wellness, prevention, nutrition, psychiatry, sleep, functional medicine, fitness and so much more.

Health lives inside you and all around you. Health does not come from a pill or an expensive hospital bill. It’s time to be honest about our lives and about our health… Our interconnected health as individuals, families, and communities.

In this first (official) edition of my newsletter here on LinkedIn, let me do the work to introduce myself for those of you who are new...

Hello! ?? My name is Jonathan Isbill (aka Jonathan ZaZa). I'm a registered dietitian by my educational path, but I'm much more of a holistic health advocate and synergizer of great people with great ideas doing great things. I have many passions that span health, wellness, entrepreneurship, my faith, and of course travel... because who doesn't?

I graduated from Ball State University with a Master's in Nutrition & Dietetics in 2019 after a what felt like a (too) long journey chasing a career focusing on natural healing using food as medicine.

Why this specific pursuit, you ask? Great question...

You see,

My career was sparked by watching my mother's health struggles with her lifelong battle with?Crohn's Disease, which started in her early childhood. While I was growing up, I became interested and inspired to learn more about how food affects the body. My interests grew into an absolute obsession in high school when her health was taking a turn for the worst. She had lost her job, was losing her health, and all the things that made her... her.

I couldn't just sit by and watch her health decline, so I began researching books and journals on her disease, scientific articles and blogs for health and treatment options. Beside a few risky pharmaceutical options at the time, there was pretty much nothing to find as a cure.?

Then, I came across Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayruvedic Medicine, and other more holistic, natural healing modalities that traditionally focus on the ways in which food can be used as medicine.???

Gradually, I learned more and more, making small efforts to help my mom at home with subtle changes to her diet and lifestyle. Before long, her health began to improve, her energy came back, and her disease was placed in remission.

Ever since then, I've been hooked onto this pursuit to improve people's lives through food, nutrition, and better health.

The body is a system designed for health and healing.

It's amazing to see what the human body can do when we give it a chance to function as it was designed.?

? Moving Forward ?

I believe that every person deserves the chance to learn how to live their happiest, healthiest life possible on this planet in hopes to strive towards their highest potential serving others with the gifts they've been given.

Unfortunately, poor health often gets in the way of life achievements, chasing dreams, fulfilling hopes, and can set us back from shining as our fullest light.

Our health is not everything, but it is certainly something to be valued, cherished, and preserved. Health can lead us in so many positive directions, but without it, we can often feel lost and broken and taken away from our fullest potential.

My goal is to make this easier for all of us.?That’s the goal.

Your success is my success. Your health... your freedom in health... is my joy.

We're going to have some fun, so thank you for being here.

And I can understand if you might be asking yourself... okay so...

?? Why “ZigZag” Nutrition ? ??

Well, it's like this..

Life is always changing. You’re changing. I’m changing. We’re changing together.

?????? We Zig & We Zag ??????

Life is a Journey, not a destination. We learn, we grow, we adapt - together. I see words like Life & Health as inseparable, infinitely interconnected. ???

A Good Life is a healthy life and a Healthy Life is a good life. A life well-lived struggles to be lived well without health and wellness. This is what most of us strive after.

Health is far more than just the absence of disease. Real Health is multi-faced and interconnected between physical, mental, emotional, social, spiritual, financial, educational, and more. ??

Nutrition represents so much more than just “food” for us to eat, but rather I think about Nutrition as the long list of wonderful ingredients that make up a beautiful life. Nutrition provides us with the nutrients we need to create health and a wonderful life - a beautiful, abundant, fulfilling life. ??

Consider what humans require according to Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs; each of these key components (and more) make up the authentic nourishment we need to live our best lives as human beings living life on this great big planet spinning in the sky ??

ZigZag Nutrition represents the pursuit we share as we strive to live this life as best as we can, learning and growing, flexing and adapting along the way to better align ourselves to the most nutritious life and lifestyle that meets our needs and nourishes our body, mind, and spirit - together.

I’m only here to help, trying to do what I can to make the world a better place... little by little... all of our collective actions can make a massive change.

In upcoming editions here on LinkedIn, you can expect us to dive into some frustrating concepts in the U.S. healthcare marketplace, take a look at some interesting young innovators, and much much more.

Until then, take care and we'll talk again soon! ??

What a great project! This is so needed on LinkedIn. People need to learn that all choices (especially food) they make today affect everything that happens to them in the future. And that mental health and physical health are very connected!

Good thought … “Health does not come from a pill or an expensive hospital bill.” I also always tell patients that FOOD SHOULD BE MEDICINE !
