Hello new and current students at the University of Greenwich, welcome to a new term. We are the BSEO and if you haven’t met us before, it is very nice to meet you!
As a new starter, there will be lots of new things to see and learn about at the university and we would like to introduce you to an important part of your student journey which is: Employability. While you are at university, we will equip you for the world of work through a number of exciting Employability programmes and opportunities. Employability is our specialty and supporting your career is what we are all about at the BSEO.
As the BSEO we are well-qualified, expert teaching staff who specialise in knowing everything you need to know about careers. Above all, we are a very friendly bunch who will be delighted to support any query regarding your career big or small. We support Employability across five busy departments: Accounting & Finance; International Business & Economics; Human Resources & Organisational Behaviour; Marketing, Events & Tourism; And Systems Management & Strategy.
To give the bold headlines on the services we offer read on…
The Greenwich Employability Passport started in the Business faculty and is essentially a programme where you are awarded points based on the number of extracurricular activities you embark upon. The more points you achieve, the more prizes you can win. Most notably, we offer a networking event to get your foot in the door with prestigious employers who have relationships with the University of Greenwich.
Career mentoring is a programme where you are being paired with a professional in a field you are interested in. They will guide and support you in an area related to your career where you would like to be developed. They may even make introductions and open secret doors for you.
At the University of Greenwich, we offer a placements programme and also promote internships. The placements programme is a sandwich year doing a professional role taken between years 2 and 3 which is worth 30 credits. We promote placements through organisations we have relationships with and support you with relevant placements that you discover.
We offer 1:1 Appointments where we support skills such as CVs and Cover letter writing. We also offer workshops and webinars on topics including Maximising your LinkedIn profile; Interview skills; Acing psychometric tests and leadership skills. The support we offer goes beyond university with dedicated advisors for graduate support once you have completed your studies.
If that is not enough to entice you to discover the BSEO - did you know that 96% of our former and current students would recommend us? With Employability, it is always best to start your journey early and think about how your actions now are supporting your next move.
We are hosting an introduction to the BSEO on 17th September at 4pm and we would be delighted to see you there! Click here to register for this workshop.
