Hi, and welcome to my channel!
My name is Toby Stewart and I believe that the biggest societal issues of our time are business opportunities in disguise. In this short article, I will explain who I am, what I’m doing, why I’m doing it and what you can expect from connecting with me on LinkedIn.
I consider myself lucky to have found my passion early on in life. From the age of 6, I started hijacking the family camcorder, and at 13 I launched a video production business. I started with filming anything and everything I possibly could and then progressed onto corporate events and weddings.
At 18 I decided against university to expand the business into a digital production company, Crocodile — over the four years of trading, we were lucky enough to work with some of the biggest brands in the world including Snickers, Mars, and Canon producing video content specifically for social media.
During the Summer of 2018, in the wake of the Cambridge Analytica scandal, I was becoming increasingly more aware of the transformative influence that social media has on society, and that people and agencies could take advantage of this for fraudulent gain.
Based on this, I made the decision to close down Crocodile, to launch Bright/Shift.
WHAT IS BRIGHT/SHIFT?
Bright/Shift is a full-service social marketing agency — we understand the transformative impact that social media has on society and we are driven to leverage this for good.
We do this through our agency model, that doesn’t rely on in-house expertise. We have attracted a global community of Bright/Shifters - senior consultants, digital freelancers, and social media influencers.
This enables us to mobilise and manage bespoke teams solely around our clients, create relevant content and copy at lightning speed, and make messages go viral through our 400k strong influencer network, with a total social reach of 1.5B.
The beauty of Bright/Shift is that we only work with startups and corporates who are genuinely seeking to trigger positive change in the world.
We call this, Positive Propaganda.
Our clients are on a mission to change the world. And our mission is to help them do it.
WHAT IS P/SQUARED?
I believe that the most significant societal changes have come from the alignment of passion and purpose.
My personal mission and the mission of Bright/Shift is to leverage the power of social media for good, and P/squared shares this mission.
Every fortnight, I’ll be engaging with innovators, change-makers and thought-leaders who are on a mission to trigger positive change in the world. We’ll be exploring personal stories, sharing lessons and empowering others to discover and follow their own passion and purpose. There are two main reasons why I decided to launch P/squared:
???? So much of our time is spent online. I wanted to put out content that will genuinely help people to see things from a different perspective. Whether it’s through listening to each full podcast or watching clips here on LinkedIn.
???? As humans, we love stories. They’re relatable. Even though each guest is doing incredible things to change the world, they started from somewhere. Yes, we will be covering their successes, but what I’m really interested in exploring is the experiences and outlooks that got them there. Anything and everything is possible if you have the passion and purpose to drive you forward.
WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM FOLLOWING ME ON LINKEDIN?
Albert Einstein once said that “the minute you stop learning, you start dying.”
As a 23-year-old I know I have a lot to learn and a lot to experience. The only thing I know for sure is that I am fortunate enough to live a life fuelled by the alignment of Passion and Purpose.
I’m lucky enough to spend my days working with incredible clients and an incredible team, and through the podcast, I will be learning first hand just what it takes to trigger real, positive change in the world.
The reason I launched this channel is to build a community of like-minded people so I can share everything that I learn, and to learn from everything I share.
This includes key insights from P/squared, as well as my thoughts on topics including entrepreneurship, purpose-led businesses, and modern-day marketing.
