Welcome to my Heart-Centred Leadership Newsletter!

Welcome to my Heart-Centred Leadership Newsletter!

Yippee! Procrastination has not got the better of me. Perfectionism isn't going to stop me.

Instead, I am committed to sending you this, my first Heart-Centred Leadership newsletter today!

But, I have to admit, it's taken me a wee while...

You'll be familiar with having a goal but feeling a bit stuck, I'm sure? We can come up with 101 reasons why this isn't the right time, can't we?

I'm not ready. It's not good enough. I don't have enough time.

And those limiting beliefs and excuses stop us from making progress, right?

But we can choose to remind ourselves of our compelling vision or our "Why?" as Simon Sinek calls it. Our vision is what drives us and fuels us to keep going when the going gets tough, because it's bigger than our individual fears or egos.

If you're in the charity space, then you'll be familiar with your charity's vision. It's your North Star, galvanising you and motivating you all towards a common destination.

I understand how easy it is to feel disempowered by what's been going on in our country and across the world in recent weeks and months.

Perhaps you've been feeling like you're too small to make a difference?

Don't believe it! Your voice counts.

The world needs Heart-Centred Leaders like YOU to stand up, be seen and to speak out about what you believe in. Drawing upon our shared compelling vision of a better future, can make the difference between feeling stuck and taking action.

Remember: small steps are always better than no steps!

But, back to this newsletter...in giving myself the kick up the bum I needed to get off the starting blocks, I had to remind myself of my compelling vision.

It's the same as when I started my business, Heart-Centred Leaders Ltd, four years ago:

To empower charity leaders and their teams to boost their impact whilst thriving.

Why? Because I want to help create a world where deep compassion transforms communities so everyone can thrive.

How can my newsletter empower you to boost your impact whilst thriving? you may be asking.

Let me share my plan with you. Moving forward, I am thinking of:

a) focussing on a particular theme of leadership in each newsletter;

b) sharing one simple tip that you can implement right away;

c) answering any questions you'd like me to explore on anything to do with leadership!

I know how time poor you are feeling. And just how many urgent and important items are on that "to-do" list of yours! So I want to create newsletters of value for you.

I'll be sharing with you practical tips that I've learnt from fifteen years of charity leadership and from working with inspiring leaders via my business, Heart-Centred Leaders Ltd.

Today's tip?

Take time to create your compelling vision. Maybe, like me, you're most creative while you're on a dog walk or singing to yourself in the shower!

Perhaps you'd like to focus on your personal vision. Or maybe creating a professional vision feels like its priority?

It needs to feel motivating and will be aspirational. It's ok if it feels a little out of reach. Like these examples of compelling visions from the charity Sector:

The MS Society 's vision is "A World without MS".

The Refugee Council 's vision is "a society where refugees are welcome to live safe and fulfilling lives contributing to the UK"

If you're thinking of a personal vision, a self-reflection question to help might be:

"How do I want to feel?" (in a year or two year's time)

You might have a photo of yourself from a couple of years ago looking and feeling healthier, more relaxed and joyful. You can use this to inspire you.

If it's a professional vision you're wanting, try asking yourself;

"In order to feel like my work has been fulfilling and impactful, what will I need to focus on and how?"

Well, until next time, that's it from me.

I very much look forward to building a community of heart-centred leaders who share a vision of a better future. And I'm excited that you've decided to join me for the ride!
