We will deliver better education options

?CHOICE: Victorian Liberal Leader, Matt Guy, was in Shepparton to announce that a Liberal Government will provide choice in public secondary education in Greater Shepparton by committing to provide a second secondary school.

The process will start with genuine #community consultation about what a second school should look like and where it would be located.

We have listened to the people of the Shepparton region who have called for a second school.

In Government we will give back choice in education to the Greater Shepparton community.

Meeting the electorate

SCHOOL SAFETY FIRST

On the eve of the fourth anniversary of a collision that seriously injured members of a young family, a Matt Guy led Government committed to $2 million to get work underway on building a vital crossing under the Goulburn Valley Highway.

I was at the Kialla West School for the commitment with Jane and her daughter Addison who were involved in the road accident and School Council President, Jamie Gilbert, who has led the school community’s push for this preventative measure.

These works need to be carried out and pronto to ensure the safety of all students and families of the Kialla West school community.

ROADS DISGRACE

We all agree our roads are in shocking condition.

I live close to and drive on the stretch of road on Doyle’s Road near Poplar Ave which has gained lots of attention - it is in appalling shape - but my travels around the electorate this week have proved MANY of our roads are disgraceful.

The stretch of the ring road at Grahamvale is down to the dirt, and I witnessed a car being flung to the wrong side of the road when hitting a hole.

A Liberal Government will fix the neglect of our roads by the city centric Andrew’s Labor government by reintroducing the Roads and Bridges Fund to fast track funding to local councils to repair our roads, and double the funding is guaranteed to regional areas like ours under our Regional Infrastructure Guarantee which delivers 25% all spending to rural and regional Victoria.

BYPASS IS TOP PRIORITY

The Shepparton Bypass is Greater Shepparton City Council’s priority infrastructure project and was top of the agenda during a briefing I had with the Mayor and CEO recently.

Council and a local advisory committee have been calling for a funding commitment to build the Bypass for two decades and they consider an upcoming election an opportune time to advocate strongly for the critical infrastructure project.

There is no doubt it is an important project for the future planning and prosperity of our region.

Mayor, Cr Shane Sali and CEO, Peter Harriott, also highlighted the Shepparton Sports Stadium rebuild and a Tech school offering STEM education as major priorities for our region.

An elected Liberal Government will guarantee 25% (up from the current 13%) of the State’s infrastructure spending to flow to rural and regional areas like Shepparton and District. I will be working hard to make the case for our share of those funds for priority projects.

Other ways to help?my campaign:?Do you have a fence or a shop front I could put a sign on soon? Could you give me some time on pre-poll or election day? Do you have a group I could come along to to hear from members?

Please contact me if you are able to offer any of this support or any other assistance between now and November 26.

My biggest need is still to raise funds to keep the campaign going. We have made it as easy as we can with a DONATE button on my website which you can get to here?Make a Donation (cherylhammer.com.au)?or visit?CherylHammer.com.au

Donate Here

No donation is too small and the donate button allows you to choose an amount, fill in your details and hit submit. Its that easy and would make a huge difference to my campaign to win the Seat of Shepparton in November.
