Welcome to this month’s Centripetal Force Insights!
We know it’s been a while since you heard from us, but we’re happy to be back in your inboxes just in time for summer. So, if you’re reading this poolside or even on a plane to get to a pool, we have a lot to share with you this month so let’s get into it. Bonus points if you’re reading this by a pool.
Is Your DNS Powered by Intelligence??
The Domain Name System (DNS) is a fundamental component of the internet, acting as a directory that translates human-readable domain names. Essentially, DNS serves as the internet's phone book (remember those!?), enabling users to access websites and other online resources by using easy-to-remember names instead of complex numerical addresses. DNS plays a crucial role in online communication by translating domain names into IP addresses. Despite its immense value, DNS remains largely invisible to most users. However, as we know all too well the internet is plagued by malicious activity, and DNS can unwittingly aid hackers in redirecting and defrauding unsuspecting users.?
Not all is bad though! What if your DNS could be entirely powered by intelligence? Watch the latest digital event on-demand as our experts discuss the future of DNS and explore the transformative potential of an intelligence powered DNS.
Protecting Students from TikTok with Proactive Cybersecurity
School might be out for the summer, but we can't ignore that the explosive growth of TikTok in schools is a cybersecurity ticking time bomb. The platform's pervasive influence on teenagers is undeniable. With over 1.5 billion users globally and a significant proportion of U.S. teens engaging with the platform daily, TikTok has become an integral part of teenage life. According to a 2023 Pew Research Center study, 63% of U.S. teens aged 13-17 use TikTok regularly, and 58% are daily users. This level of usage underscores the platform's stronghold on youth culture.
We hear a lot from our K-12 customers that TikTok is an ongoing threat to their network. To effectively manage TikTok’s risks, schools need advanced web filtering technologies. DNS filtering, for example, provides a dynamic way to block access to harmful content while allowing educational resources to remain accessible.

Hitting Home Runs
Summer is here, the grill is fired up, the sunscreen is on, and America’s favorite pastime is in full swing. Just because most of us are on holiday, soaking up the sun, doesn’t mean the malicious actors take a break.?
For the Boston Red Sox and other major organizations, maintaining robust cybersecurity measures is essential to safeguarding their operations, customer data, and proprietary information. The constant threat of cyber-attacks means vigilance is required year-round, regardless of the season or the scoreboard.
We recently sat down with Randy George, VP of Technology Operations at The Boston Red Sox, to learn more about what keeps him up at night and the importance of leveraging intelligence-powered cybersecurity to keep this iconic organization safe.?Watch on demand.
Speaking of hitting home runs, Dark Reading wrote a great profile piece on what it takes for the Boston Red Sox to secure Fenway Park. The article goes inside the team’s strategy for building a next-gen security operations program. Read here to learn more.
