Welcome to Monday in Meg's mind??

Welcome to Monday in Meg's mind??

DISCLAIMER: Writing ???? this headline I pictured some of my friends' and peers' heads dropping and heard whisperings of "Ooh, this could get heavy..."????

??Confession time: Mondays used to be a constant and very real challenge for me.

I know you can relate to the feeling of anxiety in the pit of your stomach that starts on a Sunday and ruins half of the weekend...

Not quite knowing what the day or new week will bring but always sinking into trepidation mode, almost by default.

It took me years to realise that this feeling was due to what many call square peg, round hole syndrome...I simply didn't feel that the space I was operating in was meant for me.

The most difficult part of it all was that this feeling was largely intuitive - and I'd never stepped off the crazy train long enough to listen to my gut and acknowledge it.

Looking back, I recognise many of the signs that were screaming at me throughout...low energy, living in seemingly constant frustration, and reactions that aren't quite a normal part of my personality. TGIF became a mantra.

BUT there comes a time when you're forced to make a change and often the universe conspires to help you make it.

In one form or another, you're pushed into a different space or given the opportunity to peep through the window of someone else's life and recognise how different yours could be...

Whether the catalyst is finding a new hobby, a major life transition of sorts, or consciously changing how you do life...your outlook starts to change. And how different life suddenly becomes!

Your energy levels improve. You find more to get excited about. You take more responsibility for your journey. And let's face it: you become a whole lot more pleasant to be around.

So, how did Meg flip her script, you ask?

  • I decided to walk away from a job that wasn't serving me and started circulating my CV (started creating positive momentum)
  • Accepted a new job after negotiating the hell out of the package and conditions offered (started to see and honour my worth)
  • I took my retrenchment in 2020 as a blessing (that's a story for another day) and an opportunity to start my current business (also realised that the Universe edits our scripts pretty regularly!)
  • Lived like a student for a year, upskilling and preparing for this new adventure I was about to embark on (took the time to debrief, did lots of introspection and settled into myself)
  • Started rediscovering my passions and acknowledging them all - yeah, I have quite a few! (realised the importance of giving myself permission to do this, unapologetically)
  • Figured out a way to tag and accept the quirky/diverse thinking/multi-passionate/tech-talking/music-loving/crazy creative that I am (hehe...what an experience this is turning out to be!)
  • Working hard to align with all the amazing goals I've set for myself (I continue to take baby steps on some days and gigantic leaps on others - and that's perfectly OK)
  • Turned Mondays at Meg&Creative into a magical day that gets me excited to start my new week: it's now become my strategy, organisation, ideation and networking day (read: planning, daydreaming, creating and connecting with others)
  • And one final trick to ensure my Mondays remain on track: MUSIC! In fact, my favourite playlists accompany me every day, keeping me grounded and oh-so-happy. Today's playlist of choice is aptly named "Meg's hectic-eclectic favs"...go figure!

Confession: I love Mondays more than most days now - and my Sundays are amazing, too!???

? I'd love to hear which part of this post are you relate to more...the problem or one or more of the solutions mentioned?

I love this Megan. I'm really glad you were able to find your groove through sheer force of will. Peronally, I don't hate Mondays, but they aren't exactly my favorite days in the week. Maybe I'll have to take a few pages out of your book to change that. ??

Celebrate the days that bring small wins as well as giant leaps and those where progress means taking a step backwards (or two) to regroup for a new path is what this journey has taught me.

Happy Monday, Megan! I really related to being in that headspace, everything you describe. I also went towards trying to discover my passions, and I listen to music constantly! Still on that journey of seeking passion…
