Welcome to Milhouse's latest Gas newsletter!
With every new project, we expand our expertise and unlock new capabilities. Whether it's designing and developing lasting infrastructure or upgrading complex systems, we tackle challenges that others can’t.
In this issue, we take you behind the scenes of the projects that have fueled our success. You’ll see how our gas engineering team drives innovation and explore the work that’s powering our growth.
Project Spotlights
PGL Upgrade Monroe to Balbo??
Milhouse is leading a major gas infrastructure initiative in the Chicago Loop. Our gas engineering team is designing extensive pipeline networks upgrades on Wabash Ave., from Monroe St. to Balbo Drive.?These crucial updates are being executed while navigating the complexities of Chicago's permitting requirements, ensuring seamless service continuity throughout the distribution system upgrade.
Consumers Energy Service Design
Our gas design team is currently supporting Consumers Energy with a key initiative aimed at helping customers seamlessly transition to new gas services. By identifying each customer's unique service requirements and tailoring designs to meet those needs, we're effectively clearing the backlog of service designs and ensuring smooth, uninterrupted transitions for all customers.
Lemont Station Upgrades
We're implementing comprehensive electrical and controls upgrades for a BP active station. A key challenge of this project is maintaining station operations throughout construction while working around existing underground conduit banks that must remain untouched. To navigate this, we designed an innovative solution: routing electrical cables through elevated cable trays in a separate building, eliminating the need for excavation near operational equipment.
Our design process leverages advanced technology, using Autodesk Plant 3D within BIM360 Collaborative software. We began by creating detailed 3D models of the station's existing conditions using point cloud scanning technology, ensuring precise integration of new components with current infrastructure.?
