Welcome to May's Bits & Bytes

Welcome to May's Bits & Bytes

In this edition, we reflect on our first event of 2024 and share our thanks to all those who presented and attended. We have very exciting plans for the next one that we can't wait to share with you!

We're also sharing our new article following World Password Day 2024 and why you should be using a password manager like TFSsecure:password to keep all of your passwords safe. Check out the article for some advice on creating a strong password, common mistakes to avoid, and why it's important to take advantage of a password manager and all its features.

We also have some highlights from recent ConnectWise outings with the IT Nation. Everyone involved had an excellent time and we always learn so much from these events - the next date is already in the calendar and we're looking forward to it.

Reflecting on our first event of 2024...

Picture of attendees at briefing on how to build cyber resilience

Many thanks to everyone who attended our event at the end of April - it was great to present to everyone on how SMBs build cyber resilience, and we loved the opportunity to catch up with our wonderful clients and get to know new faces after the presentations.

A very special thanks to both Laura Wilkinson from The Clear Group and Andre Lynch from ConnectWise, without whom this event would not have been such a success! It was a pleasure to present alongside you both and was interesting to hear the different perspectives around building cyber resilience. Thank you also to the BMA for hosting us, and for Two Tribes Brewery for supplying us with some top quality beers!

If you couldn't make it to the event but are interested in undertaking a Cyber Security Risk Assessment or want to know what was covered at the event, get in touch with Simon at [email protected].

Why you should use a password manager this World Password Day

World Password Day password box with a padlock symbol

World Password Day falls on the first Thursday of May every year and serves as a reminder to checkup on your password hygiene. Cyber crime is always evolving and becoming more and more sophisticated, so it’s important that we all try to stay ahead of the hackers – making complex, unique passwords is a fundamental way of doing that.

In this article we’ll take you through password mistakes to avoid, how to make a strong password, and how a password manager like TFSsecure:password will make you confident, productive, and even more secure.

A trip to Lord's and a flight to Copenhagen!

Dan Scott presenting at IT Nation

It’s been all things ConnectWise recently, and we couldn’t have enjoyed it more!

Managing Director Luisa Marques and Director Simon Heath attended ConnectWise IT Nation Accelerate at Lord’s Cricket Ground where they enjoyed a day of leadership presentations and keynotes from Peter Kujawa, a cyber security leader panel with Graham Lane, and a wonderful tour of the grounds.

Paul Matthews also took a trip to Copenhagen this month for IT Nation Evolve, where he attended peer group meetings and a community day. Paul attended a presentation from Hardin Byars on situational leadership, a lunch and learn with Nicholas O Donovan and Phil McGowan from Huntress, and enjoyed the usual lively discussions, information, and updates from the group.

Thank you to ConnectWise, IT Nation, and Dan Scott for putting on so many great events and always giving us something to look forward to!

Thank you for reading and sharing

Many thanks to all those that attended our event - all of the hard work that went into it was definitely worth it and it was wonderful to meet so many new people and catch up with long-standing clients.

We hope that you consider using a password manager like TFSsecure:password to help keep you safe and productive. It's one of the most useful tools we use at TFS on a daily basis, and we couldn't imagine life without it!

A final thank you to ConnectWise and all of those involved in IT Nation events - it was a great day out visiting Lord's and Paul only had good things to say about his trip to Copenhagen.

As always, if you have any questions about anything covered in this month's Bits & Bytes, please reach out. Stay safe and secure!
