Welcome to May.

Welcome to May.

Welcome to our second newsletter, way more polished than our first newsletter ;)

What happens when you really crush carbon? You get a diamond. Here's hoping we can create some diamonds together and solve some of those crushing carbon issues.

The aim of our news letter is to keep you up to date with what has been happening with our software and the market in general. Being a tech start-up, we are continually looking to improve. Improve our communication, our leadership, and of course our software.?

It’s going to be a busy month of May as we onboard our early adopters and prepare for our speaking spot at?Techfest 2024.

EARLY ADOPTER PROGRAMME

Last month, we introduced our Early Adopter Program—a platform designed to distribute our software to innovative individuals working on exciting projects, all free of charge. If you're keen to be part of this pioneering initiative, we still have openings available. Simply drop us a message right here on LinkedIn.

Exciting news: this month, we've extended our Adopter Program to include educational institutions. The response to our V-Quest demonstrations in the education sector has been phenomenal. In April, we showcased our software to the Otago Polytech School of Architecture, and they've embraced the opportunity, aiming to integrate V-Quest into their curriculum.

So a call out to all lecturers in structural engineering, architecture, or drafting: if you're interested, reach out to us!

We're thrilled to announce the latest additions to our Early Adopter Program: Pacific Environments, Otago Polytech, and Lewis Bradford Engineers. We eagerly anticipate onboarding them and witnessing the transformative power of V-Quest in action.

V-QUEST IMPROVEMENTS

The carbon ecosystem is in a constant state of flux, always evolving and advancing. V-Quest is no exception. Our platform boasts a robust database of over 1,000 material assemblies, supported by precise cost data, carbon EPDs, and mass information.

Each day, we're expanding this database further, focusing on commonly used materials while also maintaining an agile support system to accommodate specific requests.

We promise to have any material assembly you need for your carbon analysis available online within 24 hours.

In addition, we're diligently developing our third tool: the Carbon Benchmark. This feature provides access to meticulously analysed projects housed in a centralised repository. It serves as a space to examine and store your own project benchmarks, offering immersive 3D visualizations of data ranging from carbon footprint to cost analysis. This tool will empower you to make informed decisions from the earliest design stages, aiding in the creation of a robust design brief.

We're excited to announce that Carbon Benchmark will soon be available in beta version, allowing you to experience its benefits first-hand.

Stay tuned for updates!

V-QUEST CONSULTANCY

V-Quest had been in BETA mode for the past 24 months, serving as a reliable consultant. If you have a project or case study in need of analysis, just reach out. We offer a diverse range of analyses, empowering you to understand what actions you can take, what could have been done differently, or what strategies to employ for future carbon reductions in your designs.

To date, our consultancy engagements have completed analyses for:

  • MPI
  • Redstag Timber
  • Ryman Healthcare
  • Christchurch International Airport

  • Dunedin Private Developer
  • Queensland Regional Government

This month, we're excited to expand V-Quest's capabilities by collaborating with Stack-IT. Together, we'll explore the comparison between mild steel racking systems and the potential transition to mass timber solutions, such as LVL and SG8 timber.

If it can be designed in Revit, ArchiCad or SketchUp and it uses available construction materials, it can be analysed.?

TECHFEST??

V-Quest is gearing up for TechFest 24, an annual event held during NZ Tech Week and organized by Canterbury Tech, the most vibrant technology community in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Our Co-founder, Barry Lynch, will take the stage to discuss the carbon reduction opportunities that often go unnoticed and unrealised.

He'll demonstrate how V-Quest can seamlessly reduce carbon emissions in construction design while potentially uncovering opportunities to enhance development yields.

Whether you're a seasoned technologist, tech enthusiast, or sustainability advocate, TechFest 24 promises a welcoming and engaging atmosphere.

Join us for insightful talks, thought-provoking panels, interactive workshops, and the chance to connect with like-minded individuals over drinks, nibbles, and meaningful conversations.

PILGRIM PODCAST

In early May, our Co-Founder Barry Lynch had the pleasure of joining the Pilgrim Podcast team for an insightful discussion covering the fundamentals of carbon analysis and reduction, sprinkled with anecdotes about kids' clothes and porridge. Hosted by the talented David Durrant, the podcast delves into the challenges and solutions for achieving a more sustainable built environment.

You can listen to the podcast episode by following this link.

Pilgrim Podcast finds its home at Pilgrim Espresso on Lichfield Street, conveniently situated across from the bus station. Run by the dynamic duo, David & Milton, Pilgrim offers a unique experience in caffeinated stealth marketing.

What sets Pilgrim apart is their commitment to understanding their customers and their businesses. They go the extra mile to foster networks, connecting individuals who drop in for a coffee and a chat with like-minded people and businesses.

The coffee alone is reason enough to pay them a visit!

NABERS

Our user-friendly Easy LCA tool seamlessly integrates with LCAQuick and GreenStar carbon compliance reporting tools. LCAQuick, proposed by MBIE, is set to become New Zealand's carbon compliance reporting tool. You can find more information about these tools here.

Recently, we had the opportunity to present and demonstrate our platform for NABERS (National Australian Built Environment Rating System). NABERS is currently developing a compliance tool similar to LCAQuick, also Excel-based.

NABERS was particularly impressed by innovative solutions like V-Quest, which streamline compliance reporting processes. As a result, they have agreed to engage with V-Quest as an early user of our carbon compliance tool.

We are committed to automating compliance reporting for Australia, making it easier and more efficient for businesses to meet their carbon reporting obligations.
