Welcome to the March (Recap) Edition of the CCEM Newsletter
Dear Reader,
We are delighted to present the latest issue of the CCEM Newsletter, which offers a recap of the engaging activities and developments that took place in March.
We are excited to share our new podcast show on Systems Thinking in Emergency Management with you. The show features valuable insights and expertise from an industry expert, specifically tailored to help our fellow emergency management professionals enhance their understanding of systems thinking. Moreover, we have taken note of your interest in international job opportunities, and we are working diligently to introduce a relevant feature soon.
We are also happy to announce the successful launch and completion of our Crisis Management and Disaster Response Course, a collaborative effort with the University of Applied Research and Development. For those of you in the military or veterans with VA benefits, this course, which was hosted on-site in beautiful New Zealand, is well worth exploring.
In March, we launched the CCEM Community of Practice, a platform designed for emergency management professionals like ourselves to collaborate, share knowledge, and support CBI international initiatives. Within this community, we are thrilled to announce the first paid research opportunity, focusing on international resilience efforts. Additionally, we had the opportunity to visit NATO HQ for an insightful discussion on Resilience, with particular emphasis on its significance for national security.
We appreciate your unwavering support and look forward to sharing more news and updates in April. Our team is working on several exciting projects, including a groundbreaking initiative that has the potential to reshape the way we work within the international emergency management and resilience space.
Best Regards,?

Webinar -?Climate Security and Community Resilience: Exploring the Nexus
The theme of this virtual round table discussion will be 'Climate Security and Community Resilience: Exploring the Nexus'. Climate change has become a pressing global issue, posing significant threats to societal stability and human security. Climate change is not only an environmental issue but also a security challenge, as it can increase the risk of conflicts and instability in vulnerable regions. Communities around the world are already experiencing the impacts of climate change, such as extreme weather events, rising sea levels, and food and water insecurity, which threaten their livelihoods and well-being.
The rationale for this virtual discussion is to bring together experts, policymakers, academics, and practitioners from various disciplines to discuss the nexus between climate security and community resilience. The event aims to examine the challenges and obstacles that communities face in building resilience to climate security threats, as well as the current efforts to address these challenges. The round table will also explore the role of different stakeholders, such as governments, civil society, and the private sector, in promoting community resilience and climate security.
The event will be hosted by Capacity Building International (CBI) as part of the newly launched Community of Practice, as well as in partnership with the Fund for Peace, which recently launched a new National Resilience Index.
