Youth work transforms lives.

“Ambition is the art of the possible.”??

Angie Madara is a serial entrepreneur with stories to tell. Supporting young people and new generations is really important to Angie, and that’s partly what appealed to her about Born Ambitious. We invited her to one of our member youth organisations, CAIUS HOUSE , where she was interviewed by resident podcasters and best friends Blu and Leona about her approach, ambition and lessons learned.??

?? Enjoy the highlights from their conversation in the video below.?

From passion to finding a career path???

All young people deserve to be excited and inspired about their futures. London’s community youth sector is uniquely placed to reach young people in every borough and plays a crucial role in inspiring young Londoners into successful careers. Thanks to our Summer Skills Grants partnership with CVC , we’ve provided the additional support our member organisations need to upskill and inspire thousands of young people. ?

Over 100 young people attended the NCS and Digital Talent Tech Careers event in August.

? Youth Employment Week ?

From 15 - 19 July we celebrated #YouthEmploymentWeek, focusing on connecting young people to opportunities and promoting the benefits of hiring them. With our member youth organisations, we're committed to advancing their career aspirations, building skills, and boosting employability through various programmes.

? Tech Careers event ?

As part of our NCS and Digital Talent programmes, we hosted a Tech Careers event for young Londoners interested in kick-starting their careers in the sector. It was an inspiring day filled with opportunities for young people to participate in interactive workshops led by industry experts, get advice and explore job opportunities in tech and network.????

Inspiring young Londoners to get creative????

This summer, we hosted an Art Showcase, a vibrant community event presenting the results of the projects happening at youth clubs across London as part of our Heritage and Young Creators programmes. Young people presented their discoveries and insights into their cultural heritage in an exhibition-style format, showcasing their pieces of work and videos capturing interviews and cultural explorations.

Youth clubs are vital safe spaces for young people to thrive??

It's fantastic to see Mentivity opening its first-ever youth centre on the Aylesbury Estate! Our Chief Executive, Pauline Daniyan, told BBC London News that many youth organisations are still struggling: "These organisations play a vital role in the lives of hundreds of thousands of young people, yet their situation is precarious."?

A recent survey showed a quarter of our members only had enough funds to operate for up to 6 months. Overall, almost half had resources for up to one year. We need long-term investment in community spaces for youth work.

We look forward to working with the new Labour Government and our partners to support young people and the youth sector.

Watch the video below to hear from our members and young people and understand what they’re seeking from the new Government. ??

A huge thank you to our corporate partners for getting involved in our work and volunteering this summer! ??

?Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward, Klaviyo, Gerald Edelman, Clink Hostels and Visa volunteered at our Summer of Sport events and got involved in everything from basketball to athletics to football!

"It was a blast, the atmosphere was buzzing from start to finish, you can see how passionate the players are about their games. To be in an environment where young people are able to enjoy the sport they love in such an iconic location was a joy to watch." London Youth basketball event volunteer, KFH

?Gerald Edelman volunteered at one of our member youth organisations, Dalgarno Trust, to help run their food bank operations.
