James Hotaling, MSL, I heard the other day that you also need to maintain critical tension between the interests of customers, employees and shareholders. It is in the interest of all three that you maintain the tension for long term growth and innovation. This was such a paradigm shift for me. We tend to want to relieve tension because it may "feel" better, not realising that tension supports the bridge between us. You need two strong pylons. Iron sharpens iron.
